Those were released a little while ago now. They are less than 7lbs each holler! We'll have to stick around and see where the technology goes, a wheel that light will net you noticeable horsepower gains by removing rotating mass.

I have always been a fan of carbon fiber, like they said im not sure if they would be strong enough for intensive autox or something similar.

There are different ways to make CF parts. Cheaper ways are used for pieces that don't get whacked around too much. I'm sure these wheels are a lot stronger.

Chrysler experimented with fiber glass wheels in the late eighties. They were offered on a few of their turbo performance models. They are very desirable in the Shelby Dodge crowd. After all of the good things I've heard about them, I've never heard anything about durability problems. Curbs are the inherent enemy of all light weight wheels. I crashed headlong into a curb in snow and the alloy wheel hit broad side, the lip rolled under, leaving a large crack in the wheel and consequently letting out all of the air instantly.

Carbon fiber is a lot stronger than steel, they have developed more and more ways for it to be molded in high stress applications. In high pressure situations it's considered safer than metal because it simply cracks rather than exploding. I saw a car that ran on compressed air(4000psi) and it had a carbon fiber pressure tank.

I think these wheels would hold up to everything but impacts.

Hey....uhmm.. you wanna give us a heads up on which models? I know someone who had an 87 Daytona Turbo Z, but his wheels (I thought) where alloy.

Some of them share the same 5x 100 bolt pattern as ours and some people here could probably use them for there applications. Thanks in advance.

They were super rare, but you can find a little bit of info on them at allpar or mini mopar or eek, maybe. I used to be into them before I realized how they were never going to be reliable vehicles. I think those wheels were only made for two years and probably only sold on competition vehicles. I know they were offered on the Shelby CSX (Shadow). I think they were 16". I don't know the pattern. If the late eighties mini mopar car used 5 x 100, then there you go. All of there five lugs wheels were interchangable. 1986-1994 FWD Mopars have eerily similar interchangibility when compared to 1990+ Subarus.

couple of companys have come up with carbon fiber wheels but not the whole wheel. they make the outside out of magniesm, and the center carbo fiber, and those are like racing i think? they make them for merc. and high end cars
