Snow driving, Spec B, outcome...

So every year for as long as i have had a Subaru i go out and drive till there is no more snow on the roads to do so. Without still having my WRX back together for winter action i took the Spec B out for a ride.

This past Friday with the snow event in NNJ, we went out as we were having a meet that night, drove around for a bit before we got to dinner.

I wacked the back right wheel pretty hard while oversteering into it! hehe. havent had a chance to check anything yet, but i dont think i broke anything other than bending up my 15" RL-7's pretty bad. Good thing they are rally wheels! haha.

I did that when I had my 98 forester// what happen was I went to turn around on the road and when to go up a hill that had a crown in the road, the tire followed the crown and the Right rear hit the curb so hard it bent the steel rim.. not knowing that it was bent it later turned into a flat tire because it was rubbing on the strut.

glad I did not kill the wheel bearing.

Luckily i dont think i bent anything. STill havent had a chance to get it on the lift to see, but the car tracks pretty straight and all for now. The lip of the wheel is bent, but that seems to be it.

The car has rear wheel bearings warrantied till 100k under thier new "issue" suit. hehe.

yeah i know. Im sure thats what most of you are thinking.

I know most of you dont really know me and what im all about, but when i drive a car, i DRIVE it...

Lets take for example my first Subaru. 2001 2.5RS coupe. I bought this car brand new.
Car has been:
2 times totalled
2 deer hits
4 rad support replacements
3 guardrails
7 trees
and a bus, head-on...

I did just about everything i could do but roll that thing. Everybody panel on that car was either hit or replaced at one time or another except for the roof. Amazingly this car is still being driven and is still in one piece, sort of. hehe. If any of you were at RallyNY this fall you would have seen the car and known it to be the 00 sweep car.

Not that i go out of my way intentionally to abuse my Spec B, but if it happens it happens. I take it back to the shop and fix it. Not really a big deal in my mind. i know if im going out with the intention of driving like an asshat that more than likely something will happen. hehe.

I'm glad you're ok with it.
Unrelated note: People comment that AWD owns everything in the snow and its so great yet its the RWD folks who put their cars in the garage and stay home that keep their cars out of the ditch and looking nice.
Personally, I get so frustrated and angry at myself when something like hitting a curb happens. I've had enough of dumb accidents while rallying or sliding around for fun that I've decided its not worth it.

True, however my "DD" is a racecar as well. Maybe I need to get a "DD" that is unmodifiable. Like a Toyota Tercel.

haha beach landing craft! thats great...

yeah i do have quite a few cars around so... Although i do like to keep my specb in top shape compare to the rest of my cars.
