I was driving my car and I noticed that my intake noise got alot louder, and when I drive the car the motor sounds more like a boxer motor more than usual. It performs like normal and sounds the same except for the intake noise. I know that I dont have any exhaust leaks or anything.. You guys think anything could be happening that I dont know about??
Also I have an idle issue; where, when I start the car from dead cold it doesnt idle any higher than usual like it should it just idles like if it was warm taking really long to warm up. Could there be anything that could be going wrong??
Thanks for the advice in advance

have you checked under the hood? my buddy had sort of the same problem with his jeep and his intake tubing came off so there was a small gap between the tubes. just enough so that he got a nice V8 rumble coming from the engine.

a little info on the car would help too... (chassis code, year, engine, etc.)
but sounds like you need to check the intake tubing since you think it's intake related.

Its a 96' legacy L sedan. 5 spd. It sounds like it has a short ram intake now. I don't get it.

well get under the hood and look around, we can't see it for you. my guess is loose intake tubing or a hole in one of the intake pipes

When I bought my '98 BD, it had a much louder engine rumble than my roommate's '99. Turned out the intake pipe wasn't bolted onto the air filter box, and bolting that back on dropped the engine noise quite a bit.

I checked and no holes. But I think I found the culprit. I went off roading on monday and the inner fender got a bit tore up. And I do have the snorkal deleat. So maby that area opened up causing more noise.
But there's another problem. In the morning I start the car and instead of having the normal cold high idle it idles at around 2K rpm for 2 seconds then drops quickly to 600 rpm
