View Full Version : Any reason I shouldn't sell my stock steering wheel/bag?

Hey guys,

As I know I'm going to keep my car for the long haul, I won't be rushing off to return it to original configuration any time soon. Is there any risk involved with selling the original steering wheel and airbag? I guess I'm concerned about liability, as I can't guarantee a buyer will hook it up correctly and not have it fail on them in an accident. Is it better to not sell it, or to just sell the wheel and not the bag?

Thanks for your input. Also, it's a leather-wrapped wheel from my '03 SE. What's it worth with/without the bag?

Jeff

No issues. Sell it on ebay with a no-warranty clause. Wreckers do it all the time.

Just sell it as it is and leave it at that.

Air bags cost a pretty penny. If it was mine, i say around $150-200 area.. give or take.

Just make sure you research the shipping costs. Airbags are a hazardous material and can only be shipped as such. Ebay used to have a little window pop up and tell you of all the things you need to do to sell airbags once you started an auction, and to check with state laws, etc, etc.

Well that blows. Hmm. Thanks for the heads up.

Jeff, that just means you have to ship it via UPS Ground or FedEx Home (no airplanes).

Your steering wheel (just like mine) is nothing really that special, you can ebay it, but it will most likely not get above $50. I sold mine for as much as what other people usually sell their 2.5RS steering wheels, $75 shipped on rs25, about a year ago. It cost about $15 to ship it.

I think thats what I sold my GT wheel for. I have another one I'm trying to sell at that price too.
