shock replacement on my BE

ok some how all 4 of my shocks have gone bad, it feels like there is a dead body in my trunk and in my engine bay, and the car bounces like it is, its job!

so at advanced auto parts, the have kyb gr-2 gas shocks for 88.98$ a piece, is this a good price.?

I dont have to pay for install, my fiances brother, works at a mechanic shop and is going to put the in for me, i just want to make sure im getting a good deal on the shocks.

also i have a quest about the top hats, will i be able to use my stock springs with the kyb, or do i have to get new hats as well, just a term i see kicking around and figured i would ask.


sad to say after i get the shocks fixed i think im trading it in or selling it and gonna try to get a 05 Legacy gt spec b.

Also, buy at least the front left and right top hats - they have bearings in them and these wear out over time.

yeah thats what im talking about, thanks alot man! Im going to get them off ebay, now i just have to wait for them, it also doesnt help that i have to wait for my tires now as well, because my shocks were "bad" for so long i guess the chewed up my tires something fierce......

You don't necessarily need to get new tophats. When I redid the entire suspension on my RS track car I replaced the top hats with STI Group N peices. When I put GR2's on my Outback rally slut I didn't replace a single thing. You will see a noticeable difference just from putting the new shocks on, especially if you don't plan on making the car competitive in motorsports. No need to replace the springs either unless you are wanting to change the handling of the vehicle.

Depending on the miles...the tophats will be due for it. Better to do it once rather than tear it all apart and have it aligned again just for a top-hat binding.
