Dream car was fun, now let's be realistic

You're given $15k and you must spend it on a vehicle. It can be a car for exactly $15k, or it can be a cheaper car with mods (or, you don't have to spend the entire $15k, really). So....realistically, what would you guys get?

For me, no brainer. 2004ish Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4x4. The '91 E-Bow is great, but if I had the money, a new one would be the first things I'd get.

I would probably have to get a 1994 to 1997 Ford F-250 with the 7.3 Powerstroke diesel. For mods, I would put a straight vegetable oil conversion on it with a heated auxiliary tank for the veggie oil. That would probably cost about 3 grand for the conversion. The truck itself would probably cost $5,000 to $8,000. That $4,000 to $7,000 for go fast goodies such as intake, exhaust chip, injectors, intercooler, and possibly turbo. Oh, and probably a new set of tires after burning them off so easily with all the torque.

I wish I had extra money right now, I probably wouldn't be in a Subaru if I did.

I wanted this for a while and then found out the amazingness of a oil burner. Then I thought of swapping a 7.3 into one, but figured it be easier and cheaper to buy factory stuff. But I also love the look of the mid 90s Ford trucks.

If I found a Cummins for a decent price, I would probably get it. I like the Fords because there not as common. My uncle has an 01 Cummins with 465,00 hard driven miles towing a cattle trailer. Original motor, but 4-5 :shock: trannies.

I'd probably get myself an 05-06 LGT. I've seen them selling for as low as 13k with decent mileage, and I'd likely put any money left over into wheel, tires, etc.

2004 Forester 2.5xt with some upgrades. They go for about 13 or 14, so with a budget of 15 I can swap out suspension and wheels. For $20k I'd go with a Volvo V70R.

96 BK with an STi swap. Engine, 6sp, rear diff, and DCCD. Crawford 2.7L stroker kit and internals, Dynocomp cams, GT30 turbo, standalone ECU (good dyno tune for about 450 hp). Then, custom valved Coilovers, front and rear adjustable sways, harder bushings, and some LGT wheels wrapped in Pilot Sport Cup tires. Daily driver son.

Or, I'd just get a 06 Spec B.

I'd say a Ford Explorer E.B. is far from a dream car.... lol. My friend has an 05 V8 w. 20's and very fancy Pirelli's. The thing drives like shit, gets like 13mpg and can't even go off road. Its horrible to park and the interior plastics belong in a car that costs half the price and look like they came out ten years ago. With that said I do like the factory stereo

but i would really like a mint low milage BD GT-Limited with black interior, repaint the out side gloss black(8-10K) with a full STi drive train engine, 6speed tranny, LSD's and breaks with JDM projectors, and full 3" exhaust. and a STi gauge cluster and stearing wheel and maybe switch the intercooler to front mount maybe.

Bear in mind that I'm assuming that I'll have my '91 for off-road duty. I've spent a bit of time behind the wheel of that generation of Explorer and I have to say, compared to older Explorers at least, it's like a Caddy! I still want the solid rear axle in mine, though, for the occasional off-highway adventure. IRS in the Explorer= :smt019

For $15k I would like to get another pickup, but I've been eyeing a '05 Baja Turbo. I may just pull the trigger.

And Zues Marine - those GTO's are sweet! Just getting the babyseat in-n-out the back is tough. BTW, there was one of those at acar show that had a swapped motor (bigger) and turbo charged. The turbo's were all the way back near the rear muffler. Talk about a plumber's nightmare!

2. Pay off my car and put most of the remaining money into suspension
3. A Red '97 GTi VR6 with a fully rebuilt motor and trans, fully adjustable suspension so I can dump it for looks and raise it a bit for track use
4. A white '03 Jetta VR6 GLi, Vortec supercharger, and a full 04.5 GLi swap (lip kit, dash, interior, wheels)

I saw the Bronco concept displayed at the 2004 detroit auto show and never heard about it going into production since...
I went looking for a car to post on this forum and found the 2009 Ford Bronco. According to the article, it is based on a cheap economical platform to be along side the Fiesta in 2009. It is stated to be under 10,000 USD... which leaves room for some mods. I'm not really disapointed that it won't have that big V8 since it can "realistically" be fun to play with as well as a daily driver... It comes with a stock NOS button :razz: according to the concept HAHA!
