Anybody tried this yet? 01' Leggy cluster in a 98' Leggy.

I just got this to work. It was kind of a pain in the arse but it is going to work. I put the dash from an 01' Legacy in to a 98' Legacy Outback. I still have to make the wiring work. I swapped the dash harness with an 01 RS phase 2 harness also so i should work. You have to shave off the two side brackets, modify the top bracket by making it shorter, trim down the bottom brackets and then cut holes in the back of the cluster bracket to the back can stick out in a couple places. You also have to modify the bezel to fit the new slope of the dash. I am not completely finished yet but everything is going to fit perfect when im done. Does anybody know if i will run in to any wiring issures. It is for an automatic and there is a shift selector display. I dont think the RS has any wires for that, also, the Out-side temp deal will be disconnected for a while.

Well, i swapped in a Phase 2 motor and tranny. So i had to swap over all of the Phase 2 wiring. I figured since i have to do all the wiring and the plugs are different anyway, i might as well put a cooler looking cluster in. Plus, it is digital and it has an Outside temperature gauge. (temp gauge will be hooked up later)

Makes sense to do the complete swap if you're gonna have it apart anyway. People do dash swaps all the time with Impreza's. Its more work than I would want to tackle currently but good luck! As for the shift selector, if you would've gotten a harness from an auto RS you wouldn't have to worry about it. I have no idea how you will get that to work and I hope you don't run into any issues being able to start the car and remove the key because the car wont know what gear its in. That's the worst scenario I could think of, maybe you have that covered already.

I do have the harness from an Auto RS. I just dont see anything in the wiring diagram about any shift selector signals going to the dash on the RS. I dont think the RS dash came with the selector lights on the dash.
