The carpets were such a pain in the A$$

Looks good, but I see some gaps behind the passenger seat on the floor by the B pillar...
What year STi?

04 STI
Yeah there are a few gaps, remember the carpet is by no means a perfect fit. i had to extend the carpet about 4 inches so the original seat bolts are inches back and now exposed and where the seat belts come out is off...
generally it fit well took a lot of work and even with some small gaps i will fill later i still looks better than my old dirty grey carpet.

where did you find the door panel inserts? I've been thinking about doing the same thing with my legacy but have had trouble finding the parts. Also, what did you end up color matching the ceiling carpet as well?

Actually 'Decke 48' is right the front and rear seats fit in without any problems, and the only gaps are shown in this picture...

There are actually very few things needed to change the color of the door cards. All you need is a phillips screwdriver, upholstery adhesive and fabric of choice. I think I will try and write up a DIY for this when i have some time...
Ceiling carpet? do you mean the headliner? I debated a long while with myself on what i was going to do with the headliner. My final decision was to leave it alone. Two reasons for this:
1. The headliner is difficult to remove and even more difficult to recover due to all the bends and curves. Plus I couldn't use one piece of fabric it would have to be two pieces sewn together. To much of a pain in the ass.
2. Even in the STI interior the headliner is gray

ya i meant headliner, but ok thats cool, i'll look into getting stuff for the door cards for now and maybe hit up ebay for the seats and rug

A member here does custom door cards. As far as the seats and rugs go, there are a few salvage yards around that have had WRX's. Call around as well as EBay.

does $200ea for the rug and back seats sound reasonable or is that overkill? probably just hit up the local junkyards if those are the prices on ebay, heh

I have heard the guy that does the door cards does great work so that sure is an option. I got my fabric for $11 a yard, only needed one yard, the spray adhesive was like 4-5$ and i got to choose the fabric that matched my seats the best. I also had enough fabric leftover to make my shifter boot. So if you dont have the time or patience to do it then go for it and have someone else do it.
I got my front seats, rear seats and carpet for 600, i have seen them go for 800+ everywhere else. Keep your eyes open on craigslist, NASIOC, RS25.com, and just about every other forum you can think of. Remember that not every STI/ WRX owner will wonder to sites like SL-I to sell their stuff, you will have to go to their site. GOOD LUCK
remember the carpet is no easy task, it takes time
looks good i like it! Think this would work in a BK?

That I think is an interesting question. Having never worked on a wagon i dont have first hand knowledge of their inter workings. With that being said I dont see any reason why the carpet and front seats wouldn't fit. Your rear cargo area would be your old carpet, just like my trunk.
The back seat is another monster. First off the STI/WRX seats slide into mounts at the top of the seat, so you would have to make some kind of mount for the seat. The seats also dont fold down so you would loose that function. They are also taller seats and the back of the STI rear seat is exposed foam and unless covered doesnt look good, also has zero back support, it is only foam and fabric.
Would take a lot of work for a wagon rear seat. Front should be good
Gah i'm an idiot I forgot about the folding seats! How could I forget I fold them down so much! XD
Guess i'll keep my eye out for some 05 WRX front seats which are the same style as the STi.

Very nice work, your carpet came out a lot less hack-jobish than mine when I swapped into my 95 BD. I love the STi interiors.

Well i was looking at my pictures an playing with paint drawing where i cut the carpet and such...
I decided since I dont work tomorrow and i need to take my seats out anyway (have to replace the seat belt buckles). I will just take some more pictures and see what i can do about creating a DIY. at the least ill get some pictures.
So stay tuned.

I did a DIY a while back with 'my' not as good way of doing the carpet. If you post in that thread, I'll add your info to the top of the post, since I think your way worked MUCH better.

I have to be honest with you, the pictures don't do it justice at all. It looks way better in person, I gained a lot of respect for this mod when I saw it at the NorCal meet.

Do the sti front seats bolt right in without any modification?
Nick_701
03-22-2010, 04:43 AM
The carpet is the factory STI carpet from the same 2004, had to cut in half to get the length. I'll Upload a picture, cut at the red lines to give 2-3 inches extra length. It takes a lot of tweeking to get it all to fit right and i used some self tapping screws to fix the loose parts to the floor. The cut and screws are hidden under seat or center console.

The factory legacy seat is bolted to the legacy body with five bolts, however the STI seat uses four of the five bolts. Still very secure.
So to answer your question, YES it is a direct bolt in.

That looks really good! That window gap isn't very noticeable, but you could always stick a piece of vinyl or plastic in there.
