tire sizing help for a 8.5/9.5 inch rim

ok so im looking at a set of Axis Halo Limited Edition gold in 18''x8.5'' +35 and im looking at a set of Rota Grid in 18''x9.5" +35 and i want to stretch the tire a lil bit to sit lower to the ground. now the part that confuses me is what size tire to get to get a good sidewall stretch. im thinking a 235 40 18 on the 9.5

You're going to fit a 9.5" wide wheel on an older legacy with that offset? How exactly?

235 on a 9.5 will be stretched, it'll look like one of those euro-tuner VW.

Save your money and get a narrower rim if the best you can stuff in the wheelwell is a 235 tire.

Also, what exactly is the point of stretched tires? Worse wear, worse handling, and it looks dumb. :smt017

I'm just saying, from a performance standpoint, you're wasting a lot of that 9.5 width if you're just going to mount some relatively skinny 235's on it. A 255 or 265 would be more appropriate (and more badass).

I'm going to say this once, and then shut up. There is no way you're actually going to make that fit on the car.

This is a 245/35 on an 18x8.5 ET48. Fenders rolled and pulled, front and rear. It will *barely* fit on my car with a narrow 235.

Your 18x8.5 ET35 will sit more than a half-inch further out.

An 18x9.5 will sit a full inch farther out.

I don't know how else to say it. Not going to work without looking like crap. If you want something that big, commit to flares and run a real tire.
