Previous history: Solenoid C + torque bind took out my prior transmission, 3 transmissions later I have this one which seems all fine and dandy. Till today.

Put the car on a ramp to get the top of the car in the air, went down under to see if I could isolate this leak I've been having, couldn't spot anything so I got some shop towels (those blue ones available at autozone, etc) and clened the area around where the headers meet the exhaust, the front diff and the automatic transmission pan.

Turned the car on, it seemed a bit weird, then bam dropped out of gear, torque bind now happens at every corner, will not upshift (Stays in the same gear irrregardless.) and the AT oil temp light came on, restart--it flashes. Unplug battery, replug it in, turn the car on no light (supposed to be like that) drive a bit and BAM downshifts to one gear, no control at all. and AT oil temp light comes on mid driving + will reflash when car is restarted.

Also, first time happening- the automatic shifter wouldn't shift..had to use the shift bypass lock to get it to go to R, D, etc.

So, in simple words - does this mean my transmission is gone once again?

sounds like the trans is going into limp mode. when you where cleaning maybe you disturbed some wires?

hmm have you tried to see what code is stored on the 4EAT? i forgot how you need to get the code but it involves moving the shifter around to different spots.

haha, I Feel like an idiot.

the tranny harness which connects up to the main harness (the one that sits right on top the bellhousing) got loose.

reconnected it, and voila the tranny works again. Hopefully I didn't do any real damage when it was disconnected.

the smoke returned though.. :( from my other tread so I'd have no idea if thats tranny or engine releated..blah. oh well atleast it's running again!
