Mine will obviously be without the Xterra logo on it, for obvious reasons. Any idea as to what I should make this thing out of so that it doesn't weigh the front end down too much? I'm thinking 1/8" steel with 1.75" tubing for the guard.

That's pretty sweet, I'm going to send him an e-mail. And since Scott from SJR Lifts seems to be ignoring me, I'll ask this guy about a lift for my Outback.

Do you want it to stand up to offroad abuse? If so, then it's going to be heavy. No question about that. Personally I'd do a tube style exoskeleton for the bumper. It'd be much lighter, and if done right you could remove it and not send your resale value through the floor.

As to the oregon site, OutbackWbeer had one of those bumpers. Of course, I don't remember ever seeing a picture of his outback on pavement.

I've been looking around at a few bumper designs and I actually kind of like the look of the one that i'm building for my Explorer (soon to be Mountaineer clone).

I just don't think that tube would look on this car, though. In the end, I'll choose function over form any day, but if I can make an ARB knock off that's strong, then I'd do that before tube. My main concern with either, though, is how I can make it strong enough and well enough attached to use a winch and actually be able to winch myself out/be an anchor point for someone else who's stuck.

:lol: He's quick until you give him the money. Last message I got from him was asking for full payment of the bumper he was building me and I've gotten no responses to all emails and phone calls since.

I e-mailed the guy and he said that I should call him. I decided not to ask about bumpers, but rather suspension. He says he can help me in my quest for 31" tires!!

Have you seen the stuff from http://www.alliedarmament.com? I don't know if the do stuff for BEs but the BD bumper will give you some ideas. They make a lift kit for BDs that might carry over to your legacy.
