I have a tether set up that I made for my daughter's matching car seat.
Overkill? Nah...

Basically anchored to the seat, then the center tether.

We've now converted it to the booster. It's on the passenger side. The bottom strap goes in between the seat and up onto the factory GT headrest tether, and the top now goes from the top of the car seat- under the rear headrest- to -center tether (as seen in the 1st pic).
Any suggestions??

I'm not sure about an abovehead anchor system - I think those are specifically excluded from seat designs because they obstruct rear vision and in an accident the strap could come loose and wrap around an occupant.
However, in Europe they have child seats that have a leg that extends from the front of the seat down to the floor of the car - this leg prevents the seat from pitching forward during an impact, and can assist with the prevention of lateral movement also. The same model of seat here in the US does not have the leg part, mainly due to costs and a lack of acceptance in America's population.
Did you know the most successfully selling child seat in America has cup-holders? WTH?
I will probably be importing one or two of the European seats in a year or so when my family gets going... the European standards are more stringent.

Yeah, hers does too! A cup holder and a snack tray. It also has retractable locking arm rests.
The seat is 1 of the safest and having the features was an added bonus.
I bolted them to the top to stop the swaying of the top of the seat while turning. Maybe I'll try to bolt 'em where the rear lower corner factory anchor bolts are. In my GT I used to have anchor bolts w/ rings on 'em. Almost like the cars that used to have T-top holders. I didn't see them right away... I'll look again.
an recommendations of some names or seats from across the pond there kind sir?

From Subaru.com FAQ's
2. How can I find out more about child safety seat anchorage systems?
Since offering our 1985 models, Subaru has equipped our vehicles with tether anchor points. To inquire about ordering a tether anchor kit for your Subaru, contact your Subaru dealer. With all new 2000 model year Subaru vehicles, tether anchors were included with the car. Our 2001 Legacy and Outback models include the new LATCH system. All 2002 Impreza models include the LATCH system, as well as all 2003 Forester and Baja models include the LATCH system. Unfortunately, there is no retro-fit kit available for vehicles prior to these model years.
For more information about LATCH systems, please go to www.Drive.Subaru.com (http://www.Drive.Subaru.com). On-Line Exclusives, "Information on the LATCH System" shown in the Drive Magazine Fall 2002 issue.
You can also refer to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) Web site's (www.nhtsa.dot.gov (http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov)) and enter "FAQ" in the Search Section. You will be able to locate and link to their Frequently Asked Questions on LATCH.

There's a tether in my wagon that is located on the passenger side ceiling in the wagon/storage area. My daughter isn't old enough yet to face forward so I haven't used it yet.
I'll take some pictures if I get a chance.........you can stop laughing now.
