I prefer the 04 body style. Not to mention it's much easier to convert the 04's over to an STi setup (the ecu accepts all the STi bits, turbo, intercooler, exhaust, etc...)

his is an 05 isnt it?. be careful the 04 have oiling problem. oil pump pressure relief valve gets stuck and causes low oil pressure.

The Forester STi is cool, but if I were to get a Forester (okay, technically a 2nd Forester, already have an '03), I'd get a new 3rd gen, trim the fenders a little, run a slightly larger set of Yokohama Geolander tires, and go camping with it all the time.

There was one very similar to that in a showroom here in CT. Just wasn't lowered, and they weren't asking that much. Less than $25k, and it only had 10k miles on it.

Looking at his car compared to pics of an 04 I don't see any differences in the body... Also, I tried searching but I didn't find anything about this oil pump pressure release valve... If it is an issue on the foresters, it should be an issue on the Impreza STi's as well. Everything I've researched says the motors are the same, and it's the power adders that are different.

the problem with the forester is they put screens in the banjo bolt that go to the heads. this is only found on 04 forester xt's and it cause problems with the oil pump. a number of 04 forester xt's have spun bearing. and subaru had a recall about the bolts for the oil control valve not being tight. well they remove the screens (inside tip) most tuning shops reccommend removing the screen and doing a oil pump to prevent problems. from the 3 oil pumps ive done in 04 forester xt's the pressure relef valve sticks. all subaru ej25d, ej255, ej257 use the same 10mm oil pump. just my .02cents

They ruined the 2009 XT - you can't even get a 5-speed - you're stuck with a 4-speed auto! Boo! Better to get an Outback instead.

The base Forester is a really good deal though - $19995 for a good, safe car.
