hatch won't open

My rear hatch decided last night it's not gonna open any more, I don't know why. The lock functions correctly, and the handle still moves when unlocked, just doesn't seem to disengage the latch no matter what I do. Kinda sucked after driving 40 minutes to get some furniture :/

It's a 1996 Outback.

Hmm... I thought about that but I figured the handle wouldn't move if there was a lot of ice in there.

Well, I just went out to see if it was iced up... pulled the panel off the inside to look at the mechanism, and it looks like it just wasn't engaging the unlock position correctly. I moved it around by hand a few times and lubed it up, seems to work better now. The two keys I have for the car kind of suck, maybe when I was trying to unlock it last night I just wasn't turning it enough.

I had the same issue. Making some minor adjustments to those rods within the liftgate fixed the problem.
