Gauge Pack
Q.What is the accuracy of the compass?
A.The accuracy is +/-22.5 degrees due to segmentation of N, S, E, W, NE, NW, SE and SW.
Q.Why is there a deviation setting?
A.The difference between the Geographic North and Magnetic North is the reason for deviation setting. A compass always points magnetic North. Deviation is the correction factor used to indicate true North.
Q.Why does the vehicle icon blink?
A.It blinks because the magnetic field is being lost. i.e. going through a tunnel. This will return when the field becomes uninterrupted.
Q.Why is there a difference between the barometer gauge reading and the reading here on a weather broadcast?
A.The barometer reads true air pressure and is not corrected to sea level. "Corrected to sea level" readings are what radio stations report. Since the radio station is stationary, there is a "constant" that can be factored in so that a correction can be obtained. Since a car obviously moves, there can be no constant. This is why our gauge pack cannot correct to sea level.
Q.Why does the barometer change when I open the windows?
A.The air pressure sensor is located inside the cabin. In order to obtain the most accurate reading, the windows must be down so that atmospheric pressure can be used. If the car is closed tight, turning the A/C on, varying the blower speeds, or changing the mode door position form normal to recirc will change the readings.
Q.Why does the altitude change if the car is not moving?
A.The altimeter used the same sensor as the barometer does and reads indicated altitude, not true altitude. (True altitude is the same as elevation). Therefore, if weather conditions change (such as a storm rolls in) the altitude reading will change even though the car is stationary.
Q.Why can't the altimeter be more accurate?
A.An altimeter upgrade to the next commercially available level would increase the price of the gauge pack by about 10 times.

A.No, the amplifier is designed to boost the subwoofer only.
Q.Can the Subwoofer/Amplifier be used along with any other radio unit brand, i.e. Alpine?
A.No, the unit is designed to work in conjunction with Subaru Original Equipment radios.
Woodgrain:
Q.Is woodgrain available for the area above the radio, around the vent location for a 1998 2.5 GT?
A.Yes, but as a replacement part only. It is standard on the 30th Anniversary Edition Outback.
