So I guess I'm deficient in searching, but I cannot find any info on how to remove the OEM roof rack on ANY Legacy, much less the BG/K chassis. So I was thinking perhaps some people that know how on various generations of Legacy might be able to do write ups that they either post here and we rename it the "Rack Removal Thread" or maybe they could post new threads in the B & C section that could then be put into the Body & Cosmetics Threads of Note thread.

Just a suggestion :smt023

I am pretty sure the mounting bolts are under the interior overhead handles

pop the end caps off and there are torque screws in there. 2 in the front 2 in the back.. (ON THE ROOF OF THE CAR, from teh outside)

Ah, so they just pop off, eh?

I shall have to try this .

Should make my car look pretty f@#$in' slick when I finally get some projector headlights and a JDM kouki bumper to replace my broken bumper/cracked left headlight :smt023

Thanks,
Scott

Well... heh... I would except I have to be able to turn this back to just about stock at a moments notice, as for the time being, it's not truly my car :smt005. I'll let you know if I find myself not needing them, or if I find a really good deal (like, nearly free) on 'em or a different set that works I guess :smt023

Sorry,
Scott

Very yes. My car just so happens to be white, too . Though I'm not sure that's a Kouki bumper, being that correct me if I'm wrong, but the Kouki facelift included a more angular, aggressive bumper like Subba's. I really like how well the roof spoiler works for the non-extended roof wagon, though. I'm thinking of having one of my friends (family friend, through church) that works for Boeing as an engineer help me design a spoiler that's a bit more large/flat on the sides, with a center wing that moves up and down on the back (hinged in the front) via a wired version of those little motors in R/C airplane wings. Fun stuff :smt023... now hopefully we can arrange for it to not be ridiculously large like most aftermarket wings/spoilers generally are

I shall have to check out Peugoby's Member's Ride thread some time soon, too

^^ it's a stock USDM front bumper. Notice the dimples on the side for the foglight holes.

But you get the idea of what a rackless wagon will look like. I posted it because I knew you had a white one too, same as me.

I do everyday

Bohemian- Do you have a raised roof? I would like to see a (BG) raised roof w/out a rack.

Well... uhhh... To answer this question, I shall refer simply to my signature

That would indeed be interesting, but then again honestly I'm still trying to figure out why there's a raised roof chassis in the first place

:smt021 oops. I knew that...

More headroom would be my guess but then again, it's Subaru we're talking about.

I removed the cross bars on my roof rack this morning.

THen there are the 3 middle strips and the outer bars.

It seems the middle strips (after I removed one), there are holes in the roof. Not sure it would leak/how to plug them, thus went ahead and put it back.

Thoughts? For those of you that removed them?

You'd be best to weld the holes shut.

Ok thanks. Will leave them be, then.
