Another one for Wagon love!!

So yesterday I took a Legacy GT LTD Sedan for a boot at the dealership.. it was a 2005, the sales guy was fucking awesome!! He wasn't trying to sell me the car, he knew I just wanted to take it for a test drive but I did tell him that I really really am interested in a Legacy GT LTD Wagon for practical reasons.

He took my email address and said he would send me listings for what I'm exactly looking for. But after some research.. it looks like only the LTD came with a Sunroof (a huge one might I add) and Subaru dropped all manual trannys after '05 :( This is from www.cars101.com (http://www.cars101.com).

Wow, that Sedan was so quick.. would the weight of a Wagon drastically decrease performance??

The weight isn't that bad.
2005 Sedan: Base Curb Weight (lbs) 3365
2005 Wagon: Curb Weight 3,435 lbs.

An aftermarket up and down pipe plus a tune will really liven the car up without any tough wrenching... but good luck finding a 5mt wagon...

PS. The weight is going to depend on the options, a fully loaded 5MT GT wagon is going to be about the same as a base model GT w/ auto.

And if you're parting out to trade in, let me know because I'm willing to drive to Toronto to steal/swap parts. :D

Boo.. I just did some budgeting and I won't be able to afford it until NEXT summer.. which is ok.. I'm still in love with my BD and it still has a lot of life left in it.. I wouldn't want to get rid of him prematurely.

Parts wise though.. I'm not exactly sure what you could swap out?? What exactly you looking for??

You may want to look at the Forester XT - there are a lot more 5-speed examples and the prices are good.

It depends on your parts, but just about everything on your BD will fit my BK. :D

You may want to look at the Forester XT - there are a lot more 5-speed examples and the prices are good.
I've thought about it.. but I just don't like the high stance of the Forester.. maybe it will grow on me, I've never actually been in one either so seating and comfort has to be a priority too but I shall look into it!

I do actually.. set of 4, they have my summers on them but I really wanted to get some 17's. They all spin true, no dents or anything.. haven't hit any curbs in them :P If I find some 17's by spring time, we can talk!

As far as comfort in the Forester goes, it's waaaaaay above the Outback (at least mine). For someone who's 6'3" such as myself, the Outback is kind of lacking in head room. The 2-3 gen Foresters feel like a freakin' Hummer inside because of all the room. A word of caution, however, is that if you plan on consistently hauling people in the back seat of the 2nd gen, expect some complaining. Very small people can fit into the back and that's about it, but then again, many Subarus have that problem. The 3rd gen is much more roomy in the backseat, as Subaru increased overall length and shortened the cargo area a little. Overall, both the back seat and cargo area got a couple more inches. I love our '03 Forester. For being a taller "compact SUV," handling is EXTREMELY good. The sound system is pretty decent and the interior has a nice layout. My only complaint with interior is how the doors feel cheap and almost "hollow" compared to my Outback.

All I know is that Outbacks are cavernous compared to certain 2-door Mitsubishi Eclipses.
