View Full Version : maybe leaking anti-freeze! help

i see some in the snow in the driveway where i park
i dont want to see this.
i took a quick visual inspection and couldn't see where the leak was coming from.
any ideas of where to look, what to watch out 4 and any other advice is always appreciated

don't know if this is it, but I just had an antifreeze leak, it was hard to find, couldn't see it leaking from the outside of the engine bay. it turned out to be the upper rad hose. I would check hoses first

i could smell coolent inside my car, and see it under my car but i coundnt find it for the life of me! untill i got it up in the air and small mirror and a flashlight, i fould it right behide the exhaust, it was a head gasket! it helps to put it in the air :smt023

Best thing would be to clean your engine and let it dry, park in a spot over night and look for the spot and look up. I have a leak and I thought it was my thermostat housing but further inspection I noticed it coming from the timing cover :-( So I'm guessing water pump.

Look for/at

timing cover
thermostat housing
upper and lower hoses
radiator itself
temp sensor area

if I missed something someone else will jump in.

like i said look in between the heads, and the coolant thing that goes across the block?
