I'm gettin' my subie a PPSMT6 installed at Rallitek next Tuesday Nov.15 ! I can't wait for a bitchin' new map!

Anyone else have a ecu upgrade yet?

The perfectpower 6 is the piggyback and the perfectpower7 is the standalone ECU. Very cool stuff. Made by RalliTek.

Correction Perfect power is sold by Rallitek.... not made by them! they do installations/tune as well.

so what is the bottom line here, what does it help and by how much?
Anyone have any dyno proven results or 0-60 comparisons?
I know the new fuel map will help make it faster and changing the shift points is wonderfull for racing, but does this replace the stock fuel map or just switch it when you're in WOT?

ok, Here's how the Perfect power works.

The stock ECU is based on emission control(closed loop). With the PPSMT6 connected the loop opens at 3,000 rpms to redline. Therefore , changing the map of the stock ecu setting above 3,000rpms the perfect power ecu takes over control(depending on the map you have installed).

You can customize maps for just about anything, mods to the engine(cai, exhaust, cams), octane 87 to race gas, turbo, nitrous oxide, etc.....

So in effect when your cruise control is set at 70mph (2,500rpms)and your going over the passes in the mtns the stock ECU wants you to downshift and the engine revs say 4,000rpms until your over the top.. Hence ,giving you poor mileage...closed loop operation.

With the perfect power at 3,000rpms (open loop ) you can still keep it in cruise and get more power and better mileage....

Although on flat terrain in cruise your under 3,000rpms and the perfect power won't help you then .

So it's made for folks who want tuning power for mods/racing not for fuel mileage(unless your driving in mountain terrain alot. )

I hope this example will clarify what the PPSMT6 does.

I Know that there is a venom module400 made for legacy's. What would be the advantages and disadvantages to installing it.

Depends on the supporting mods. ECU tuning's advantages and gains grow the more other stuff you have, as you can use it to fully take advantage of these other mods (fuel delivery, boost, etc). It all depends. You will notice some difference going from the stock ECU to an aftermarket map, but usually only if you have it tuned and it won't be earthshattering on an otherwise unmodded car
