E55 HID Retrofit - Complete w/ output pics!!!

So I finally got the first projector in. It wasn't very difficult; the time-consuming part was cutting out the bracket since my dremel kept running out of battery. After that I just drilled the holes to bolt the mounting plate that was cut out to the E55. I was sure to use lock washers so nothing will vibrate loose.

Edit #3: Light are installed, wired, and working amazingly!! The beam pattern is so much better than the stock projectors, and once you hit the highs, it's like day in front of the car!

It sticks out farther than the stock projector, but there is still a little room for adjustment.

cool man, you might want to shave the top section of the projector thats real close to the adjuster screw. also i advize swapping the e55 lenses with the 3" zkw replica (clear) lenses on ebay. or from theretrofitsource.com tell matt i sent you and ull get free shipping. they make the cutoff much sharper and increase intensity/width.

Yeah I probably do a clear lens swap later on, their cutoff is really nice. For now I just have to get them mounted and wired. My HID stuff is coming tomorrow, and the harness is somewhere in the mailing system. Also, before I closed up the housings I ground off the metal near the screw so it should be good to go.

make sure when u install the harness. to install it to your running lights, because unless you got a bixenon specific harness, your lows will turn off when you turn on your high's. EX: your low beams (E55s) bulbs will turn off as you turn on the high beam for the sheild to flip down)

Ok, I see what you're saying, I'll just take the ground wire that normally goes to the LB ground on the stock plug, and ground it to the battery. This way the only thing coming from the stock plug will be the 12V line to power the relay, and the existing high beam wires for the H3 and solenoid. The main 12V for the ballasts will come straight from the battery.

Oh and would It be safe to use the stock harness to test power the HIDs, or would that pull too much current for the stock wiring to handle? I say this because my harness is still in the mail lol.

got to love HIDs , real ones that is. even if e55 isnt the best low beam, the high beam in them is amazing

I actually used warrior's DIY for this; the method is almost identical.

And don't doubt your ability, this was my first retrofit and if I can do it, anyone can.
Just take things slow and make sure you have all the stuff you need in hand before you start the project. :smt023

Unfortunately not, I really wanted to put them in but I had already ran out of money. :-(
I hope to install them the next time I take my headlights out. It's kinda a pain to open them back up. But I'll black them out and install the angel eyes. Need some cash first though.
