some might remember me on here as i used to own a 96 legacy wagon that i sold for an 02 wrx.

anyways... i'm picking up a 95 legacy wagon with a blown ej22. i'm planning on rallyx'ing the car and could use the extra grunt from the 2.5. I'm planning on pulling a junkyard phase I (dohc) motor and freshening it up (headgaskets, timing belt, etc) to drop in.

i know it will go mechanically. I'm sure the donor car will have the ecu too so i can grab that when i get the motor. My question is... Is it gonna be plug and play or am i still going to have to worry about wiring?

a buddy had a wagon that he went 2.5 -> 2.2 and didn't have to touch anything but I just want to make sure I can go up in displacement relatively easily before I lay out the cash for the new motor.

Theres a thread somewhere recently with same thing, it should be plug and play, you dont even need a new ecu

95 will have single port exhaust. So you'll need the EJ25's exhaust manifold. Not sure how the intake manifold will match up to the EJ25 heads. If anything, you can just bolt up the block and have a high compression motor.

Another thing to think about is that this 95 might be OBD1 in which case any motor will go in very easily (including WRX)

i'll make sure to grab the exhaust manifold when i pull the 2.5. I plan on pulling the full motor (heads, intake, etc)

as for the wrx motor, it's not really an option as i'm trying to keep this low budget. (only paying $200 for the car)

hey spence congrats on the new ride. I believe there's a couple ej25's at Swartz junkyard out by my house. I'll take a look out there and see what he has and how much. That way it might save you a trip up to Harry's.
