on boxer4racing what skid plate will fit a 98 legacy GT? the one for 93-01 imprezas or the one for 00-04 legacys? and is there a better place to get a skid plate or are these pretty good
and does anyone know if there would be clearance issues with borla headers?

From what I have heard borla headers will not fit, you have to call and talk to them

You need spacers in the front to clear the borla headers. I just ordered a skidplate from primitive racing (www.get-primitive.com (http://www.get-primitive.com)) they make plates for practically all of subaru's applications and are rally proven. And Paul Eklund is a great guy to deal with, just tell him what you want and what you already have and he'll make it happen.

The Rallitek only starts in '00 model year on their website. May be worth the phone call to find out if they make them too.

For 1995-99:
1995 - 1999 Legacy/Outback
Legacy/Outback Front Skidplate
This sturdy skidplate bolts on easily in place of the factory piece of plastic; you get excellent protection from anything trying to hurt your motor, manifold, oil pan or filter. The aluminum plate features full protection out to the frame rails on each side and extends back beyond the rear of the sub-frame. Designed to maximize ground clearance and to install quickly... a rear lip keeps the plate from hanging up when you reverse. Available in 1/8" for light duty/snow or 3/16" for heavy duty/rallycross.
Item No: 3014 - 1/8" $215
Item No: 3015 - 3/16" $235
Extras and add-ons: add a 4" oil filter access hole for $15; or delete all access holes for $15 (reduces mud or gravel working its way on top of the plate)
Rear Legacy Skidplate
Stage rally proven! This skidplate is one strong mutha! Primitive's custom differential cover is computer-formed from 3/16" aluminum and TIG welded for strength. Strong enough to jack your car up with, we do! Comes with mounting hardware, of course.
Item No: 3050 - $95 (or much less when bought with a front plate in our Full Body Armor option!)
Primitive Racing Mini Rear Skidplate
You want some protection under that rear differential, but you don't beat your car up like those crazy Pro-Rally guys do? Maybe you have a big bore aftermarket exhaust with a big 'ol flange next to the rear diff. Then this mini-skidplate is for you! It bolts on in minutes and will help deflect that unseen rock away from your rear diff housing. Made of 1/8 thick aircraft-grade aluminum and stainless steel.
Fits all 1990 - 1999 Legacy Models!
Item No: 3051 - $73 (or much less when bought with a front plate in our Full Body Armor option!)

I'm 90% sure you can use rallitek's 2.5RS skidplate on the BD. But I don't like how they decided to use the rear lower control arm bushings for the rear mounting point of the plate. Not only is that thing torqued down to 100+ft/lbs but you have to take off a suspension bolt every time you do an oil change. That and they only make it in 1/8" thickness.
The 00-04 skidplate isn't full coverage like real skidplates; it's more of a metal replacement for the factory splashguard.
