Forester XT/ baja turbo question

Does the forester xt/ baja turbo engine have the head gasket issues like the n/a EJ25 does?

i believe those motors came after subaru revised the headgasket design, so no they shouldnt have the same problems. and if i remember correctly the entire motor is different then those motors anyway because of the turbo

only the ej25d and ej251 have head gasket problems since 3 layer metal 1 layer grafite cause the leaks.

when i got the headgaskets done on my car the old school scooby tech that did mine told me alot of the problem was fomr the radiator and ppl not useing subaru fluids. im not to sure on how reliable this is but hey it would be worth the 400 buck for an aluminum rad vis the 1300+ on new headgaskets. i will put nothing but OEM antifreeze in my car. its worth the little extra money for my car not to die on me again.

Im questioning the life span of my engine on my BE (at 131k). I do a lot of driving and and am wondering if i shld trade it while i can still get money for it

If youve gone that far already w/o a headgasket issue, I think it's safe. You can get the subaru coolant conditioner (like $2 from the dealer) if you already haven't put that in...that was one of subaru's stipulations if you wanted your car to be covered under their 100k hg warranty program. I know yours isnt covered but there's a reason why they put that conditioner in so it wont hurt your chances.

But being a high-mileage car, don't be surprised if something else breaks, just like any high-mileage car...

personaly i love the BE. i wouldnt trade it for another subaru, but since the baja is built on the BE frame it basicly is a BE. if you can find a phaseII ej25 as a extra and rebuild. in doing this you will have an extra motor if it breaks. this will also be cheaper than tradeing in or buying a newer car. if yours is payed off already.

The HG were done by my crazy brother, so there are NO leaks whatsoever. I will definitely put that conditioner in, I didnt know it helped that much. thx for the info.

I like the BE too, and I would love to have the baja turbo engine in it, but there is nowhere that i could swap an engine/trans without paying a lot of money to rent someplace out. Plus I dont think im smart enough to pull off an engine swap.

its not that hard at all. the only hard part would be some wireing and that i would pay to get done.
