Can my BE5 use this brembo caliper?

hi, how are you guy doing? this is eric from Hong kong. i have a 2000 JDM BE5 and this is my first subaru. my be5 is using the wrx 4 pots front calipers(the black one). i am thinking to change it to Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VIII IX front BREMBO Calipers, is that possible to fit my car? what other part do i need if it is possible to install? Please help me!

The Evo IX has a 4 piston caliper, 12.65-in discs.

The WRX (black) 4 pot caliper is the same size. Front: Vented 12.7" diameter, 1.2" thick, Four-piston, fixed-position calipers.

You're not going to see any performance increase IMHO...

Roger - if you don't mind me asking, where'd you get that info? I always thought that the FHI 4-pot caliper, regardless of color, uses the 11.4in WRX size rotors.

I know the STi Brembo's use the 12.7" rotors so that may be what you're thinking of.

I dunno, maybe I'm wrong. :smile: Just thought I'd check on that though.

You might be right - I was flying through the cars101.com site... the black 4 pot calipers were only found on the JDM STi, so I may have gotten my years confused a little. Wouldn't be the first time, won't be the last!

Regardless, the Subaru 4 pots are plenty of brake for a BE5 (RSK or not). :)

It may not bolt to the hub.

You'd be better off saving the money and buying better pads. :grin:

it WONT bolt onto your hub. A few WRX guys have asked/tried to do this but the mounting tabs are just too different. You can't even machine a bracket to make it sort of work...

Youre better off getting STI brembo calipers. The front will bolt on directly, there are adapters or change out the backing plate to make the rears work...

yes, the better way is using the STI brembo caplipers (gold) and it will be perfectly fit and no need adaptor.
