1st. What is a Legacy TSR?

2nd. Do you have a "Check Engine" light on?

3rd. Introduce yourself in the "Member's Introduction" forum and Post a pic of your ride in the "Member's Ride" section.

Thank you, Come again! :smt023

TSR is a jap-model... sounds like the owner might be in Australia or New Zealand. Possibly UK.

i live in Kenya Africa there's a whole culture of subaru lovers here its practically not cool not having a boxer sound from your car...as i was saying i drive a legacy tsr power comes and goes...in the morning it starts up well, but as you drive it an give it some throttle it kinder bogs down then picks up later on...on some days, there's instant power and it becomes really exciting from the kick it gets...sadly there some 1.6 corollas beating me off the line and i catch up nearing top speed...coz of the displacement and stability of subaru....do i need a cold air intake??? a new air box?? check the electronics???
i am new in this forum i will post pics and my details soon
the only mods i have are aesthetic only performance gauges; Voltmeter, oil pressure gauge and water temperature gauge

i start by disconnecting your battery over night to clear the ecu and see if it runs better after that. cant hurt. so what motor is in your car?

Hey guys tried the battery disconect thing and it didn't work...just had to reset my radio station again...is there a way to get power out of a 2.2legacy NA without doing a swap???

What intake sensor do you have? MAF or MAP?

Could also be an erratic TPS or even a bad front O2 has been known to rob power.

You won't really go fast in this car - but you can go quickly.

If you want to drop some weight, consider a lightweight flywheel, and good coilovers.

Also, if you live in a dusty environment, you will have to change your airfilter and oil filter regularly.

TS-R's are already light, well the TS-Rs with the Billie Struts, Its a 2.0 DOHC MAF.

Sounds like a Maf issue but when a maf is bad so i doubt that, could be a o2 as huffer said and also try checking your vacum hoses, if your car is a 5spd you have a mid/low 10sec car on the 1/8 without a Leightweight crank or any pulley, just a snorkus delete and good sparkplugs, dont use CAI It does not work well, the snorkus delete will give you better throttle response and top end...

i recently installed a short ram cold air intake or something from k&n it sucks like a junkie....i love the sound damn!!! i gave good throttle response now...but still think the car would perform more...yes its the TSR with the bilsteins...very flat cornering and less understeer...any ideas of forced induction with this engine...like a bolt on supercharger or turbo??? plus i need a heavy rumble from the exhaust or does that only come with turbo subarus?? please explain this phenomenon??? coz i installed a HKS exhaust...please help

Look in the NA Powertrain stickied Threads of Note thread - there is a link to a thread on the AVO turbo kit.

There is also a stickied thread of audio clips of exhausts - there are plenty of rumbly-soundy exhaust setups for an NA application.

A set of spark plugs won't get you to take on Ferrari's.

Are you setting a realistic goal, or are you trying to beat the Jone's??? We can help you do both here, but you have to pic 1 :smt023

Yeah the goal I am pursuing is fairly realistic. The swap is something of a long term thing coz eventually there is so much you can do to a particular engine. My problem is with my current engine and I believe the is a way I could milk out power out of it. My issue is not to beat the jones...I know my car can beat a toyota corolla...or maybe its an enigma an I don't know. I seem to have a problem with low end torque which quite flactuates all the time..I don't know if its the Airflow meter/MAF or my plugs are all wrong. NGKs..I have been suggested iridium spark plugs does anyone have hands-on experience with them?? And how do they improve power delivery??

best spark plugs you can buy are also the cheapest. just get some NGK V-Powers.

There is no point in getting long life plugs unless it takes the better part of a day to change your plugs....
