So I've had this head unit for awhile it's been in the two Subaru's I had while I have no issues with it just sometimes during the day the display is a little hard to read and I wished the display could do two lines.

However with my ipod holding most of my music not sure if I really need a cd player for the car but just something that plays off the ipod.. I know Apline has a deck that's just for ipods but I have not heard anything about that model.

Also I'd have to sell my XM tuner since I doubt it would work with the newer deck.

Ok....so is this a review or what?

And last time I checked, it's ALPINE. Like the tree.

no one is perfect..

And it's a question not a review asking if it's worth to get a iDA-X100 or keep my 9856 seeing how little I play cd's anymore.

Edit your original post then. When that's done, I'll clean the thread up.

I have had a 9856 for three years now with only one complaint... If you have a lot of artists on your ipod it takes forever to find the one that you want...one line screen....If you want to use the head unit for ipod only and you have the money to burn I say go for it.

I think I heard something about this.. I think my manual is in a box in the file cabinet but what about playlists?
