TINT recommendation

[STL97outback]

I haven't had a dark colored car before. My 97 beater outback wagon is Blue.

My question is, as I am tinting it this weekend, should go 35% all around or 20% all around.

My other lighter color cars have 20%, and I like that, but wondering on a darker car, would it look darker?

Your thoughts appreciated.

20 is sweet. i just did my new car with 5 and i dont really like it. it does look sweet from the outside but its way too dark looking out especially at night.

35% all around and use like vynil paper on the windscreen 0%. anything darker than 35% is a PITA to see through in the night. but the downside to using vynil on the windscreen is stoplights :lol:

Thanks for the pics. The 35% all around looks good, but since the pic is at an angle, can't tell that much. Sideways shot would be better.

Not concerned about state limits.

I have 20% all around on other cars, no problem seeing at night.

I guess I will go to the tint shop and see...

I think you should be concerned about state limits. Being pulled over and ticketed for illegal tint is just about the most ridiculous waste of money ever.

Didn't want to get into it, but I have Consulate plates, US states laws don't apply.

I tinted the side windows with 5% and then tint the back with 35%. I did not do the back one again this time, been lazy... err busy. I used cheap tint so it only lasted 5 years.

The dark sides makes the back window look the same but from the inside it is much easier to see out of.

I did not do the driver/ passenger windows, just the rear doors on back.

Got the tint done this morning. Was debating between 35% or 20%. Ended up going with 18% on all 7 windows, life time warranty, blah blah, for $150.

Nothing special, just plain old beater wagon. Also came home and took the luggage rack cross bars off. Was going to take it all off, then realized it leaves holes in the roof. hah!

Would like to debadge the rear, but have to figure out which labels have holes behind them or not.

Next suspension and wheels.

Thanks. Now need to figure out the roof rack and how to debadge the rear. Well I know how, figuring out which labels have holes and which don't are imp.

Removed the cross bars on the roof rack. Did lots of searches, and people said for the outer two larger bars (the main roof rack), there are caps at each end you can pop. Well looked at lots of pics and on the 98 GT wagon, there are caps. On mine (97 outback) the whole thing looks like one piece. Might have to do it from under the head liner. In that case, not worth it.

Thanks Decker. I will be taking the car to Providence/Boston starting Dec. Maybe meet up with you then.

Anyone know how to adjust the headlights, my bubble balance on both are pretty off.
