tinted tail lights

Have anybody tinted their Outback wagon tail lights full red or dark tint?

If so, how did you do it?

There are a couple of writeups in the DIY forum on red and black tails for the BD sedan. I'm sure the same ideas apply with the Outback. Of course, you could always look for a pair of JDM wagon tail lights on ebay that are just red and white.

Thank you very much for the info. I prefer the red, as not to get hassled by cops. Would love the JDM style, but can't find that stuff.

I thought you had consulate plates? Which is why you won't get bothered by cops for heavily tinted windows? Or can they still pull you over for other stuff?

With consulate plates, they usually leave you alone.

HOWEVER, you can get pulled over, and then with international/diplomatic paper work they let you go.

With tinted windows on Consulate cars, they NEVER pull you over.

However, with dark tint rear tails-which are very illegal, they will pull you over, and give you a "talk" just no tickets.

I.e. when I got pulled over doing 110mph from LA to Vegas (whenever every one was doing 90mph).
Let go as expected.

On the way back, got pulled over by the same cop doing the same speed.

Didn't help I was in my Orange Range Rover.
