Should I have any problem with this setup on an Outback? Currently stock suspension set up. Will be lowering it, 225 tires on it.

Appreciate the help.

Shouldn't have too many issues, depending on how much you lower the car. Plan on rolling the rear fenders with a 225. With a 215 you may get away with no fender mods.

This is a 17x7.5, ET48 with a wide 215 (more like a 225) S03 - it rubbed at this height under hard cornering.

Thanks for that. I have a good lead on a set of light forged wheels, trying to see if I can make the deal this weekend.

I would like to lower where that that set up you showed pictured.

Problem is I have no idea what to buy to get to that height, and what will work on my car. Too many people with different recommendations.

Is your car at that current height now, or is it lower? If I want to go lower (just curious) then the wheel setup wont work, or I will just need to get 215s on them?

I would avoid using a 225 tire because those rarely fit without fender rolling. If you are set on it you can probably make it work but 215 is a safe bet. As for lowering an Outback, you are working against a few OEM parts that are already in place to keep it high. From my understanding Outbacks have several chassis spacers as well as taller shocks that raise the height over a regular Legacy. You could do a WRX strut swap and then put a moderate lowering spring on the WRX shocks, I suppose it has been done before. You could also get a more aggressive shock like a KYB AGX and put a more aggressive lowering spring on it. There's plenty of info to be had on this forum, you just have to search. I never really looked into lowering my Outback because I rallyX it but if you want to discuss some options / research let me know.

Thanks James. The wheels have brand new 225s on it. I can take the tires off and throw it on the Lotus, so that isn't an issue.

Well I am really torn between raising/lowering the Outback. All my other toys are lowered, thus I wanted to raise the Outback.

I did lots of research and on subaruoutback.org found the Forrester stuff would raise it about .75 inches, I don't think thats worth the trouble.

There is the australian company that does a full lift, but takes 5 months to get parts, I don't want to wait that long.

I want to do something with the suspension, so it is either going up (can't get parts) or goign down (seems easier).

I did do research on the forum, and reading SYBIR's post, I learned that the body spacers can be left in place, that isn't an issue.

I don't want a lowered bouncy wagon, so I might have to do struts that can actually handle a lowered spring.

The issue is many people say 02 wrx stuff will fit, other people say forrester coilovers, and I am just confused (even after spending hours and hours reading stuff) on this forum and others.

No, the pic above is not how low the car currently is (it's about an inch lower). The pic above was on Ground Control adjustable coilover sleeves on WRX struts, I'm currently on Tein Flex's. I've never run "normal" lowering springs as I wanted adjustability from day 1.

foresters are basically lifted wrx's, they will both fit. Foresters run a taller shock body so the coilovers for that application would be longer than the WRX coilover. It's like the baja vs 00-04 Legacy/outback.

You could run a taller tire, like a 215/60 or 225/50, that should give you another .5" of lift by themselves...

Thanks guys! So which coilover would be a budget set up (given it is a beater) that will be a direct bolt on?
