looking at cars101 it seems like it's Taupe Metallic?

I wonder if anything is better on this car vs a 96 model.. From what the seller says it needs a radiator replacement and exhaust work but the price is good.. just can't tell the color from that angle.

and the 95 had single port headers right?

The Taupe metaillc is code 45B if you have a pic of the vin plate.

I really don't think there were any differences between the engines in 95/96, IIRC both years had the single port headers.
The cars had little to no change, stupid little things like the steering wheel, the awd badge were different.

This car is so cheap for sale has me worried.. the seller says the radiator needs to be replaced and some muffler work needs to be done.. selling for $400 has 200K miles it's a 5spd so is that a AWD model? cars101 is not so clear saying it was an option that year but is it like the impreza the 5spd got the AWD and the Auto had FWD?

AWD was optional, so you may want to ask that critical question.
That's a pretty good price if it has awd. A radiator is no problem to replace.

That is if it is actually the radiator. Check and see if the head gaskets have been replaced, and when.

seller says the radiator has two holes in it.. how much is a radiator anyways? subaruparts has a KOYO racing one for like $300 and some change I think that's a little overkill.

My worry is driving it from the city back here to CT should I do it this weekend do they have some patch just to slow the leaking until the radiator gets replaced? I wont be driving it to work. from the city it would be around a 30 mi drive and possible stopped traffic on the highway.

Reason can get you a better deal on a radiator than that, talk to him. It's a fairly simple install, if you got ahold of it in time, you could just do it when you go to pick up the vehicle.

Get the vin#, then google the VIN#. It'll tell you if it's AWD.

Hah yep will be calling after work maybe I can pick it up still worried about 28 mile drive home which is why I was looking for a temp patch. Never had a radiator with a hole in it let alone two!

Yeah or since I will be taking the subway in bring it with me or stop at some cheap store along the way. I wonder did the muffler rust out in the same spot as my former impreza the middle section.

The rust on these cars is very similar because of the manufacturing process and way water builds up/hits the car.

wow this is the most understanding seller fucking ever!!! He invited me for dinner ran into a snag so I'm going to leave the car here and try again tomorrow. Drove it around the block and clutch feels good. No torn cv boots. Seller was friken awesome Best first cragislist deal!! I'm on my iPhone still going to have dinner with him and his wife and then I will be on my way back. Sunroof has no leaks and I did not know they had lighted buttons. He has aftermarket Piaa fog lights which will come off.

Anyone who knows me knows I have been looking off and on for like 3 years. I can't beleave it's been that long since I had my 03 forester XS :( I saw this ad only yesterday online and I was like I GOTTA jump on that. My mom tho gave me he'll saying it was junk but she feels better now. Car needs bigger wheels I think these are 15's but I have the other stuff to work on first. Needs a short shifter feels like I'm shifting in a UPS truck.

Well looking at the car the upper hose would steam and when you turned the car off it would seem like it's coming from a crack in the metal.. I have to do a tear down when the car arrives at my house today.. I hope it won't rain today but I do hope it snows again soon :) also the ABS flashes when the key is turned on so it means it has a code.. Also I thought 95 legacys had a one II port on the car a year before it was mandated?

What a great find!
95 should have an OBD port, I believe it's behind a door somewhere near the underside of the dash to the left.
It isn't labeled or anything, just a door.

I actually contacted my CL find about the 96, and he was willing to go $1k for it (has about 120k on it), all it needs is a thermostat, which I have. My brother was looking for another wagon, but another Subie. He has a Volvo 740 with 240k miles, and that thing just won't die. Terrible in the snow though, RWD ftl.

I don't understand why the hill holder was not working? Since im not good on hills yet I had to do the ebrake way.. but the car was rolling back with the clutch in and foot off the brake.

good thing is tomorrow is going to be NICE 63F out so fluid change for tomorrow.

also i think this car has a aftermarket sunroof in?

the switch (had to google) is from ASC (American Sunroof Co.) and I found out what the red and green light on the ASC button does..

From another site...

"I have an ASC (American Sunroof Co.) in my Tundra. The ASC button should toggle between green and red each time you push it. When it is green the sunroof should close automatically when the ignition is turned off. When red, the sunroof will remain open when the car is turned off.

It is also used to program how far the panel will open when the 'open' button is pressed."

I'm waiting for this code reader to arrive so I can find out what this code is and so I can figure out why the car seems like it misfires after you start it but 30 seconds later it's fine. I know the guy said he did spark plugs how much should I bet they are bosh?

No clue I have not checked the plugs yet.. I did do a sound file last night since I had my mix with me. It's rather nasty sounding be you would never know if you did not lighty touch the throttle.
