I need a good garage where I can get a top-to-bottom car inspection (so I can really know what's up with my car). I'm going to be getting a bonus from my job, and depending on the dollar amount I get, I'll be able to potentially make some looooong-needed repairs (suspension, exhaust, etc.).

What good garages or shops do some of you know? Unfortunately I cannot work on my own car (I don't know how). I would also like to hear from anyone that's gone to a "tuner garage" - like a shop that works on racecars, or subaru-friendly (or subaru-ONLY) garages or enthusiast shops. I really want a good, seasoned set of people to work the car over. I've got an old place that will be giving me a call back for a diagnostic quote and possibly some other stuff.

Anybody else?

Well, if you plan on putting the money into the car why get it checked and waste money? Like lets say your suspension is noisy, and you wanted to do new struts, do the top hats and springs too. This way all your stuff is new and the noise would be gone (if it's in that area). You have bad brakes, I do the pads, rotors and lines. You save money on installation (is you pay to have it done) but also time that it only get's taken apart. What I'm saying is don't waste your money. Have the stuff swap out you want and then go from there. A good shop will also point out potential hazards if they spot them.

as for subaru shops I know of one in morgantown wv, the subie shop, good place

What, like Trumbauersville or something? My in-laws all live in Green Lane, Pennsburg, Telford, etc.

I can recommend the local shop I take my Outback to--just a small father and son joint in North Pottstown. They don't specialize in Subarus, but they've done well by mine for the last six years, and they even work with a local transmission shop that isn't scared of these cars!
The work is excellent and costs about 20% less than a dealership. They also don't BS and tell you that you need -x- part if it isn't necessary.
