I just got a 90 AWD BC w/4AET. What's the deal with the stupid 'POWER' light on the dash? Does the engine have a different map set for higher loads, or is this just an indicator that it might shift later? Or is it a dummy light letting me know I'm using more gas than I probably need to?

Also, the transmission pauses before it engages a gear (as in when going from R to D or vice-versa). I've never messed with slush-boxes before. Is there something I can adjust or tamper with to affect this? Or is it a sign of maintenance required?

Hey Washingtonian!

The power light, under normal driving conditions, doesn't come on. It should come on, stay on briefly, and go out during start up, but if it's flashing, (like, 16 times) you'll need to check your tranny codes. LMK if yours is doing that.

When driving, the power light comes on (flashes) when you're not getting any more power out of that gear, and it's time to shift.
