Well, as you can tell from my sig, I've been looking for an EJ25 to replace my swapped EJ22 in my BG. While looking, this Outback poped up on my local Craigslist. It's a 97 with a 4eat, and 137k miles. It was rolled about a year ago and the body & frame are shot. But, as we inspected, the engine was not touched. The guy said he had the timming belt replaced and the water pump done right before his 13-year-old son wanted to see how fast he could go around some mountain roads with two friends.

The engine looks to be in ok shape. No punctures or any real damage; it looks like it just needs a good cleaning. Will require a sawzall to get the frame away from it though.

Oh, and the three kids walked away without a scratch; shows you how safe these cars really are.
So here is where I am. The guy is asking $600 for it. No way it is worth that much. Scrap is soooooo low right now (about $6.50 per 100 pound), so the guy would only get about 200 sum dollars for the car in scrap. I have a friend with a roll-back trailer and an F-250, so getting it is not a problem. I need to go back and see if I can get the engine to turn over and make sure it isn't seezed before I go any further. If I offer the guy $400, I could get the engine, some stuff I need (like EGR), sell the trans, and then the rest for scrap and probably make my money back. What do you guys think?
