I'm curious as to just how common it is for these cars to rust. After responding to the poll, post up your year/model, where you have corrosion, and how extensive it is. Pictures are a plus. As for me, my '95 Legacy L has fairly extensive rust over/behind the rear wheels, but it is only through the top layer of sheet metal thanks to the excellent Subaru undercoat. Any other spots of rust on my car are simply surface corrosion due to rock chips or deep scratches.

A picture of my corrosion:

It's about the same on both sides.

Theres a rust spot at the top drivers side corner of the windshield (probably from careless window installers), One where you have shown in your picture, and the paint is starting to bubble underneath the Legacy badge.

Current car had roofchop job done on it, before I purchased it. Wouldn't have bought if I knew about it.

All four roof pillars were cut back and rewelded and repaired.

Also have some bubbling rust on the rear decklid - specifically around the Legacy and 2.5GT badges. Also a little around the lip of the decklid (right above the bumper).

Pretty unhappy about it.

No rust, but I just installed new mudflaps and you might want to take yours off and check behind them. Behind the fender liner was mud and wet clay caked in there. An easy spot for rust to start.

Both my front fenders were rusted out behind the mudflaps but I replaced them and am now rust freeeeeee!!!! :D

When I first got my GT in 2000 I scraped the bottom of the drivers door on a curb when I opened it. Some time in 04 the rust started showing. Other than that this car has no rust at all. Even the damaged passenger side with exposed metal hasn't even started to rust. It's been a year, and last month it rained non stop for almost 3 weeks. Bodywork is coming real soon. I hope I can find a shop that does grade A work.

I have rust where you have it along the fender (I think most all of us do) and I also have rust where the "Legacy L" badge is on the back, because of those two damn holes where the badge goes in, but that's gonna be taken care of soon too (as soon as I get paint :))

ahh yes, the classic rust just behind the rear wheel... I was told that all the BD/BG models will do this at some point, due to how the rear bumper is mounted. There is a bolt that goes up through right at that point. It ends up corroding (sp) and rusting the fender from the inside out. My BD was doing the same thing.

So far, four people have said that they do in fact have rust. Two of the voted. Anyone else?

I consider those to be surface rust. I thought you meant like the frame rusting out, or parts that aren't expected to get any rust, to be rusty to vote "yes"

If I misunderstood, then change my vote to yes...
