So finally I can now get on it with the throttle without watching the temp climb crazy fast...

So my 95 Legacy L at 80 Mph in 5th it's at 3500 is that about right?

Also does this car have a speed limiter? I've heard reports of yes and no.. in 5th it takes a bit of effort to get over 100 at least from what I can tell im going to go seafoam the car

and try to get this damn pcv out.. I don't have a large enough socket but I can't remember what I used the last time on my impreza which was rusted out just like this one.

box wrenches work well on PCV valves, in my experience. If it's really rusted hit it with some pb blaster, let it sit, and then get to it.

I had to hit it 5 times with PB baster and I tapped on it with a metal hammer and I finally got it off with some channel locks.

Speed limiter is set at 100mph on the 2.2's. I buried my needle in my 2.5 with no cut off, just ran out of road.

with a auto tranny my EJ22 stops at 110 it didnt shut off it just didnt let me give it any more gas. It takes a bit of effort to get it to go that fast. lol i had to be on a interstate going down a hill go get it to max out. MY gf says her GT will do 120 b4 it slows back down. Also i had to almost hit 6k rpm to get it there.

wrong ive had my 97 leggy brighton up to 133mph confirmed by my GPS it had a automatic. only mods done were intake exhaust and rims at the time. and ive had Liz's legacy up to 124mph on the way back from MD one time. she was sleeping so she didnt know.

legacys feel so well built past 100mph if anyone has ever noticed

I guess it's just my Legacy that cuts off at 100. I like to see those two cars you mention past 80

ha took my car on it's first road trip anyways going up a hill say at 80 mph with the throttle wide open the speed hardly changes and I'm not going to do 100 + with warped rotors just at 70 putting on the brakes is a thrill ride. I gotta do the brakes next week.

I too can say that is defenatly not true, ahem-closedcourse, and my 2.2 gets a huge second wind after 34/3500 rpms. this is also 5 speed though, and I wonder if you are OBDI or II :?: I'm just ignorant there on 95s :smt017

I doubt OBDI and OBDII has anything to do with it. Mine is a 98, his claims of the fast n furious Legacy and that Brighton has no governor. Which they are all OBDII, MAYBE it's the 5 spds have the cut off's and autos don't :smt017

5 speeds are governed by speed its around 125-130 they cut off. autos are goverened by rpm around 130 cut off.. different years have different cut off.

Then my speedo is off 25-30mph (doubt it). There's an OLD thread on here about this discussion. I'll try to find it....

My 5-speed 98 2.2L cut off around 115 according to the speedometer. On the stock motor it was hard to tell it was happening because the acceleration was so little anyway, but with the turbo setup it hit that cutoff HARD.

man I'm shocked i figured the 2.2l would have less of a harder time going 100+

I got the car up to 105 today on a flat road near westcheser county..I felt no limiter but just air drag... did not take long to get back down to 80 mph without having to hit the brakes.

I can't wait to do the suspension next it's going to feel so solid :)

I'm amazed how nimble the wagon is :D on Thursday it was tested on the highway.. the car in front of me just darted out of the way and all I saw ahead of me was what looked to be 3 large bags of mulch.. I had about 3 seconds to decided how I wanted to move out of the way.. I was already in the first lane and if anyone knows the CT parkway move over a little and your in the grass, so I took the right :)

I have driven now 3 different 2.2L Subarus - an Outback Sport and two different year Legacy L wagons. Getting to 100 is no problem - but the action really starts to slow down beyond that point. 137 hp on a 3000 pound car is not going to be a road rocket.
