Yeah I know there are posts about it on this page and on nasioc, but I need some help kinda quick (Friend comming home next week with air tools to help me).

My pads are pretty low (2/32nds) and need replacing. My friend is doing the inspection and said he will let me go as long as I replace them soon. He also said I need new rotors. I am not completely sure on if I need all four, but lets just assume so.

Back to the topic, I need new everything. I dont feel like spending a lot of dough cause I dont track this car (as of yet) and I need my money to get me through college. There must be 500 different types of pads and I dont know where to begin. I feel getting stock rotors will be fine, or maybe brembo solids. Vented would be nice, but is not in the budget.

I will be willing to spend good bucks on the right pads and rotors, but track duty stuff is not necessary.

Thanks for your time. Meanwhile I will try to read some stuff on nasioc.

You can buy OEM spec replacements from your local Advance Auto/Autozone/Murray's etc. for very little money.

If anything, go with solid rotors and a nice set of aftermarket pads.

Nothing wrong with solid rotors.

Will do on the rotors... Aftermarket stuff is crazy expensive.

Any recommendations on pads? I read a few posts so far and HAWK pads seem to turn up. As do the EBC Redstuffs.

Lets see if these links work:

Brembo OE replacement rotors and HAWK pads. There were other HAWK street pads, but they got nasty reviews.

SS kit is 127, is it really worth it? It will cost as much as the 4 rotors.

I did brembo replacement rotors and Akebono Pro ECT ceramic pads. Love them. Nice stopping power, no wobble, and no squeek/squeel after 6k miles. This was through tire rack. I think it cost me $175 after shipping was tacked on. But I didn't do the rear, so expect closer to $300

The only reason why I got slotted rotors was because I got them for so cheap :-D

I've heard great things about Hawks. I can definately say to stay away from EBC Greenstuffs. They blow. (Currently on my car and I despise them)

Hawk HPS get mixed reviews. I've been in a friends car with them (2004 WRX wagon). They haul well, and make no noise. Others have cursed them for their noise. His were warm though.

Honestly, spending money past OE rotors + aftermarket pads is overkill unless you're planning to autox or race the car. Dailies don't need that kind of attention.

Good fluid, pads and stock rotors (all properly bedded in) are perfectly fine, and cheap enough.

I got my Brembo Cross Drilled rotors off eBay. They were the real deal and work fine. In fact, they were so cheap I bought 2 sets, one for winter (to rust up) and a set for summer to keep nice! Don't remember the price, but I know it was less then what it would have cost me for OEM solid. In fact, I'm putting my winter tires on this morning and am changing out the rotors at the same time. Salt's terrible on them.

I also bought stainless steel brake lines for very little extra. They're nice, very little pedal sink, just solid braking. None of it's track stuff, just for looks! They look real nice through the alloys.

I like my carbotech bobcat pads. I'd go with those and the brembo replacement rotors.

I agree..carbotech bobcat pads are awsome. I use Powerslot slotted rotors and goodridge SS brake lines. I plan on ordering pads after thanks giving.

Or, for something cheaper than the Carbotech Bobcats, Carbotech also sells Axxis Ultimate brake pads for significantly less - http://www.carbotecheng.com/prod-axxis.htm I'm on my second set now and I love them - it's worlds and worlds better than stock. My rotors fortunately had enough thickness on them to be turned and the two work together with no warping or squeaking.

A cheaper, but still very noticable and enjoyable upgrade - it impresses everyone who rides/drives my car. I can't imagine what my car on Bobcats would be like - some people would be plastered against the windshield!

I got the two things I listed above. I needed it to get here early cause my friend is gonna help me do the install aka.. free. Its not the hawk HPS, just hawk ceramic i noticed.

Now my sights are on new springs without getting new shocks. Gonna get the ion springs (sport spec i think its called.. the lesser of the two). 97legacyGT put them on his BE and stock shocks and loved them. Question is: Should I wait till after snowfall? Its only an inch.... heh.

well i discovered that my rotors have stress cracks. time for new ones, i don't wanna pay the $45/ea for plain OEs either, so i'm on the hunt too.
