I have a question ( I will try and get a sound clip) when shifting and down shifting or just going on and off the throttle this clunk sound happens when the weight of the car shifts forward it's hard to pinpoint where it's coming from but it's kind of a dull sounding sound it's just kind of annoying to hear it but not be able to pinpoint it.

if its like a clicking noise or a quick slap, like 2 metal peices hitting each other, its your CV joint, your boots are probably gone/torn, my car does the same thing, i have an inner CV boot thats broken and an outer boot (not CV though) thats gone, so i get that banging noise when im accelerating or shifting as well.

wont do anything in the short run, but overtime since the grease is gone from the joint rust is bound to start forming so its good to get it fixed when you get the chance, boots go for about $20 roughly, dunno how much a shop would charge since they have to take out the wheel assembly to get to the CV axle.

nope not the CV joint, I know what that sounds like since I had both fail in my impreza... it's not a clicking sound.. I will get a sound file up tomorrow.

rebooting axle is stupid on $60-80 axles. $20 boot and a hour tact on to the 1.5hr for an axle. so you really dont save money
its a clunking noise when the front suspension compresses? doesnt it make noise over bumps? could be endlinks, balljoint..

it's hard to say since the suspension is not really compressing.. let me get you that sound file I hope it can pick it up

Sorry this is kind of off topic and sorry for moving your thread off topic, but I get a metal scraping and then a slap from my drivers rear during right turns. Any ideas on that?

if the sound of the metal scraping all the time sounds like your pads are low and the slapping sound is the pads shifting in the caliper.

This might sound kind of dumb, but is it a bad thing that the pads are shifting like that in the caliper. I noticed it after I had my local shop do a brake job, but it has been happening since about a month after they did the work. Also the rotors are due to be replaced.

Ok sorry 1-3-2-4 I'm done invading your thread thanks for the help though!
