Im looking at getting a set of analog mechanical guages from Jegs. The only problem i have is for the oil temp and oil pressure to go into the block, is there any pre drilled hole in the block that i can tap into to get these readings or not. Thanks
Also its on a EJ22 and this is a dumb question but is there any way to know besides pulling the valve covers if my car is a SOHC or DOHC.

top of the block, driver's side near the brake booster, there's an opening with a hex plug you can use. They sell replacement plugs with a 1/8 NPT fitting adapter for just this purpose.

yeah for the oil pressure, find where the oil pressure sending unit for the dummy light and that is where you should put the new sensor i am pretty sure.
dont know about oil temp though...
damn beat me too it...

very easy to tell if it's a SHOC look at the front of the engine and where the timing belt cover is do you see two cam sprocket bumps or just one?
given that you have a EJ22E N/A I'm pretty sure it's a SHOC.

buy an oil filter sandwich adaptor that has fitting for line. pm reason for the mfactory ones. easiest way to do it and you dont have to remove any dummy light switch or plugs. if you using a manual oil pressure gauge buy the copper lines. that boiled water stuff likes to crack and break if vibrated to much or get weathercracked

yes, you can order a Y adapter from autometer or one of the other gauge companies to run 2 npt fittings on 1 npt hole. It's called a galley plug, check subarugenuineparts.com
You can also use the oil sandwich plate, less work but costs a little more. It's what I use but I have electrical sensors. Not so sure about routing an oil line near the exhaust manifolds...
