Alright so all of a sudden it seems like my duct for heat above the HVAC controls will not open no matter what I do... any Ideas?

Does the slider move?

Slider moves and changes the air temperature fine, and I can get heat or cold out of every other vent except the two above the controls. (thanks for the response)

So when you select the vents on the HVAC unit, you cannot get any airflow from the top two center vents, correct?
And there's nothing in the vents blocking them? I know on some vents there is a cog on the bottom that allows you close the vent - but those were a JDM item, not a USDM item.

correct nothing blocking them as far as I can see I looked around for a while yesterday, Are they vacuum controled? is there a fuse to check maybe?

They're electrically controlled - when you hit the button for airflow direction on the HVAC unit the doors close mechanically to redirect airflow.
However, you could have a leaf jammed in a vent door somewhere that is preventing the vents from opening.
Try feeding a cable through the vent to see if there's any blockage...?

What are you talking about? The center vents don't close.

Take out the glove box. The main unit is behind it. Check for obstructions.

Precisely, I have taken that all off to where I could see the control door. I guess Ill go try the glove box.

Took off glove box, It seems like it is not even trying to open so I dont believe an obstruction is the case. Are there any fuses or relays to look at?
I don't know if yours is the same as my car, but look up from the drivers side foot well. You'll see the white actuator arms for the heater, and then a black square box about 3/4 inch thick attached to a silver bracket. When you change vent settings, does that motor try to move the arm at all?
I had a problem with mine not changing between defrost and non defrost modes, but i could it was trying too. I changed that motor out and it works fine now.
I suggest taking the motor off and seeing if the arms will move freely to determine if its the motor or the vents are stuck.
