i have a 98 legacy gt ltd. I recently put tranny fluid in when did my last oilchange, everything seamed fine when i pulld off the lift gears shifted smoother than i remember in a long time. i hit the interstate and noticed smoke coming from the car i pulled over and my car puked trannyfluid out of what looks like a overflow hose ontop of the tranny. now it does this everytime i get on the interstate and get around 60mph. the car has 107,000 miles and was taken to dealer for all matinence. i need to get this fixed asap i need to atleast get back to wv with the car.
5-speed or automatic? How many quarts did you put in?

the car has always hesitated but it is getting worse. i have a horible rought idle in the morning but smooths out to a mild more vibration throught the day. I forgot to mention the cel i threw lastweek. i t had something to do with the coolant system. i added a gallon of coolant. there were no leaks that i gould find and i had just checked all of the fluids a day or so before i puked all the coolant outa my system.

Did you drain 4qts from the tranny? If not, you overfilled.
Also the coolant system is separate from the tranny, sounds like you have more than 1 problem.

The tranny was dry when i put the fluid in. I used cheep atf fluid (advance brand). could it be overheating and blowing out of the tranny? Is there a trans filter i need to replace?
Yes the coolant is a seperate problem but they could be linked as a general overheating problem. I think I will flush the radiator, would my car have a trany fluid kooler in the radiator or a seperate unit.

Sounds like you over filled the trans. The trans pan holds 5 quarts. If it's shooting out of the vent that means there is too much fluid.
As for the coolant you need to check for leaks. When the car is hot check the lower radiator hose it should be hot like the top if not you have a bad t stat. But the DOHC have a lot of problem with the head gaskets too.
