95 Legacy L rear brakes... anything crazy?

So I was checking out tire rack to put the brake pads and rotors on my wish list when I noticed they did not have the parking brake shoes listed.. right now the car is iffy at best on hills with the e-brake..

But anyways any of the shoes should fit right?

Yeah I would like to know this as well. My e brake couldn't hold a smart car.

I never buy parts from tirerack...for specific hardware like brakes I'll buy from a local parts store or an online Subaru parts vendor.

i buy the ever-wear silver aka the cheapest breakpads known to man and they work fine for DD'ing

I dunno what pads huffer had on his GT when i bought the brakes but they worked fine on an autocross after 16 runs

my last pads where hawk HPS they were ok but took a few min to get up enough heat to stop firm when it was cold out in the morning below 30F

I ask because I have a set of brake shoes from my 95 impreza which had rear drum brakes but I don't know if these would fit this legacy.. they are both 95's they are wear ever or whatever auto zone calls them.. I got rid of the impreza when the transmission died before I could put the rear brakes on.

But e-brake shoes aren't the same as caliper pads...

yeah in this case I don't think my e-brake shoes are used for slowing down the car durning braking like my impreza was since it had drum brakes.

Just thinking about this too.. I still have brand new un-used drum brakes for the car which I might put up on ebay since I have no use for them.

No, they're not going to work. They're entirely to huge compared to the parking brake shoe on the Legacy.

ebrake shoes are small maybe a 5.5" diameter. as far as i know they're dealer only. but there not badly priced as some other makes. i forget if there a pair or just one side. MSRP is $69.95
now since you ask your ebrake doesnt hold? have you tried adjusting the cable, seeing if a cable is frozen. or lastly adjusted shoes?

dealer only huh? that's why I hate this hybrid model i.e. some models came with disc brakes for the rear and some with drums..

but anyways I saw that over at the ultimate subaru board about adjusting the cable.. I'd have to check it out...

Now the dealer only for the shoes that would explain why I can't find anything online about the shoes.. I still want to know how does one warp rotors on a manual transmission car...

No. I got mine at Advanced AutoPart. The inside (after removing the rear rotor-yes,...rotor) ones are tiny. Almost as if they were for an Old School Mini Cooper or Smart.

i didnt know if any aftermarket support for them i. guess there is.
as for the rotor/drum. in 95 only they make just legacy(base model). only the base legacy and brighton have drums. the L was an upgrade in 95 :grin:

ok... I have disc over drums in the rear of my 97 L . Which i bought new pads and shoes for @ Advanced. $48 for everything.

you probably don't need new shoes. You can tighten the drums through the backing plate and tigthen the cable at the handle in the center console.
