View Full Version : Sunroof not working; fuse to pull to keep closed?

So I've just driven down Rt. 495 in the pouring rain with the sunroof open, because the sunroof decided to open itself and not close.

I've gotten it closed by some stroke of luck - is there a fuse I can pull to make sure it doesn't open itself again? The car in question is an '03 BE.

Thanks for quick responses.

This just happened to my daughter's 98 GT over the weekend. I think the switch got a little carbon build up and then with all the rain we had friday the insides of the switch got a little damp and kinda jumped the contacts. This is only a theory, but I took her switch apart, and thats what it looked like to me. Sorry, I don't know what fuse, but on the 98 its easy to drop light/switch fixture and disconect the switch, it only has one screw under the light lens.

This is interesting, as the panel behind the map lights is soaking wet. Water obviously got in there and is causing a short or doing something to the contact points; disconnecting the switch is another option.

If your headlinner is really wet, maybe one of the drain tubes got cloged.

a good theory, but if the motor is the culprit.... you might end up back in square 1. I would suggest disconecting the motor (??sunroof actuator??) Whatever it's called from Subaru.
