hey everybody, looking for alittle help with my car.
I have a 93 turbo legacy with a VF 34 turbo and some other mods, so I thoughht I would get a turbo timer. Found one for cheap and now I am in the process of figuring out how to hook it up. I have the original instructuons, but they are of little help. I know where to hook up all the straight forward things(ground /power), but am alittle lost when it comes to the two that go to the ignition. Firstly, where in the ignition to they get hooked up to?? the instructuons only say that they are for the ignition, but not which ones. Also, can I hook up the O2 sensor wire to one of the signal wires coming fomr the sensor, or do I have to go to the ECu directly?? Which wire would this be??
Any help would be appreciated!
I will post pics of my carwhen it is "out of the hospital" from its cosmetic surgeory during spring.

You do not need a turbo timer on a Subaru because convection naturally cools down the turbo after the engine is shut off.

Then why in the owners manual does it says specifically to let the engine run for 1 minute after strenuous driving/long highway drives?? My question was not whether or not I need a turbo timer, it was how to hook it up, so if you are not answering my question, please feel free to not make comments about whether or not I need one. Thanx :)

Well now you asked me a question regarding my post. So do you want me to answer that or should I feel free to "not make comments?"

If you google turbo timer install there are lots of hits. I didn't post any here because I didn't spend more than 5 minutes on it. You can do that yourself. The install is fairly straightforward because all TT's work the same way. Regarding the 02 sensor splice. Do that at the ECU, not at the plug itself. If you must do it at or around the plug do it AFTER the plug, meaning in the wiring between the plug and the ECU. You might want to check bbs.legacycentral.org as well but all the hits that come back for turbo timers on there link you to threads where the original poster was educated about why he didn't need a turbo timer and the threads died soon thereafter. NASIOC may provide some insight as well, most likely not for your specific application but the wiring from a WRX can be translated into LegTurbo wiring because as I stated, all TT intalls are pretty much the same.
The reason the manual says to let it idle is not for the turbo, it is for the general health of your engine. If an engine has been run hard it is always a good idea to let it cool down. The turbo uses the expansion tank to cool itself after shutoff through convection which occurs naturally, remember high school physics. Thats how the system was designed by little Japanese engineers many years ago. Its a tried and true system built for a reason.

Just got here and don't want to make any enemies...yet at least lol

It's cool. I'm just an asshole. Look through some wiring diagrams and writups of other people wiring up their TTs and post up if you have any more questions.

ive heard the 93 wrx harness for turbo times works in some 1 gen legacy. otherwise just follow the instructions with the turbo timer on how to hook it up.
