View Full Version : Stock keyless entry. Can I get the lights to flash at least?

I need to listen to my lock/unlock motors while walking away from my car to make sure it's locked... no big deal I'm happy I at least have a button... but it would be nice if I could get a frendly honk to register locking itself or at least quick flash of the lights.

I was wondering if the stock subaru sytem utilizes the horn or lights when locking/unlocking. If so, how would I reprogram it? Do I need to take it to the dealership?

Thanks!

it should. IIRC you hold both botton at the same time till it beeps. and the lights flash

Yup.. to turn of the honk / turn on the honk of the alarm locking or power locks locking.. just hold down both buttons until the car beeps.. or goes silent. Then it will be set in either honk / silent mode. The lights on my car don't flash.. however.. it may be because mine is a 99 BD. Not sure.

So I forgot the fact that I do have Hella horns and they are loud... too loud for simply telling me My car is LOCKING or UNLOCKING itself after pressing the button...

So I'm favoring the "flashing light" method if thats still possible with the stock system.

i cant remember if it only honks one horn (low tone) but if you have hella's not run on the stock harness it will honk both

Am I supposed to dance a jig or something when I do this? I have the keyless entry and when I hold down both buttons the car does nothing for no matter how long I do it. I'm trying to get the horn to honk with the lights flashing when I use the remote to lock and unlock the doors. (I'm used to hearing the horn honk from every other car I've had.. it's unnerving to me to not hear it..)

The car has keyless entry but no stock security system. I'll stand in front of the car hold both remote buttons down for a bit and maybe the parking lights will flutter a bit after awhile but the horn doesn't activate.
