just wanted to know what you guys think? im really temtped to pick up a older impreza GC 2.5rs or keep my legacy?!?!?! my brother works for a used lot, where he goes to a auction once or twic a month and get cars for dirt CHEAP! and he found a 2.5rs for like $2500 the other month. i love the body style, and i love subarus, and i wanna stay with the brand, but the only thing is i put some money into the car already, and just asking would it be worth parting out the car and buying a 2.5rs, or the couple model? just wanted to know what you guys think? would this be good path or should i just stay with my legacy...
Keep the Legacy!
Of course, you're going to get a lot of biased answers on a Legacy forum :smt023

well if it has that many problems that you don't want to deal with, maybe it's time to get another car. The headgasket alone is a $1500 job if you don't do it yourself...

I own both and a 2.5RS is a much more fun car, more rare, earns respect from all Subaru owners. Gives you a great feeling to drive, turns heads, is more easy to modify (when compared to a Legacy). Has better structural integrity and aesthetics. Has a cult following more elite than that of a Legacy. And they will only get more rare with time. Get one while you can.
Look at mine. They are gorgeous cars, no denying it. Full of potential.

Totally subjective reasoning, but hey. :smt016
I also own a 99 GF8, took it from L looks and handling to STI-beating suspension with a few simple mods. Spent a small fortune on exterior and interior aesthetics.
I now have the bigger version, a 98 BK, and am finding that the Legacy rides better on the freeway with less noise, is just about as chuckable in the corners, is under the popo radar more and the insurance is better. Modification wise the Legacy is a little tougher to mod because there are far more people making parts for the 2.5RS... but it's not a big deal really.

I might be slightly biased lol. I love my RS.

I must say I have been surprised at how "tossable" my Outback is in the corners, how easy is is to control. Granted mine has more power than the typical Outback but it is a blast to drive even on dry pavement but especially on dirt. My RS never sees dirt or gravel but it is a beast in the corners and that is why I could never see myself getting rid of it. The car is made for AutoX, I win nearly every event I enter. It is a drivers machine, my Outback was designed for getting groceries. I've managed to change its duties but its still a wobbly wagon. The RS means business.

^^ I feel ya.
Not an RS, but made for getting groceries and for dealing out some pain to the corners:

^ I agree. GF8s do it all best. I will own one someday and I will swap it. I don't want to swap my RS because it is set up so well as is.

If I had the opportunity to trade my car for an RS, I would do it, but that's just me. It depends on what you're looking for really. I feel that they are very similar cars, but the RS is smaller, more agile, better suited for someone like me who doesn't have people in the back seat a lot/doesn't transport a lot of stuff.
