View Full Version : Got two CELs now, both related to IAC

So I had to take my IAC off when i was pulling my tranny to get access to the service hole.

I took the liberty to clean it off with q-tips and rubbing alcohol while it was off.

Now when i start the car up the idle is at around 1200 when warm, 1500 when cold, and about 800 when in gear. I didn't drive the car but just let it idle in place while shifting threw gears, suddenly a CEL came on and idle dropped to about 800-900 but it was a very rough idle. The two codes that came up are: P0505 and P1507. Apparently both related to IAC.

I didn't change the gasket, its not a rubber gasket, but instead some type of composite material.

I also sprayed throttle body cleaner all around the IAC and vacuum hoses in that area, I couldn't detect any changes in idle. I don't believe that I have a vacuum leak.

Any ideas? is it possible that i screwed up the IAC trying to make it better by cleaning it... Car was running fine prior to tranny pull and reinstallation.

Let me know what you recommend, remove and clean again, change the gasket, etc...

I sprayed carb cleaner all around the hoses in that area, if i'm not getting any changes in idle is there any other way to look for a vacuum leak?

smoke machine.. carb clean doesnt all ways work for leak. could be the IAC valve is sticking and not working correctly

I saw this article on endwrench.

If i didn't properly position the gear selector adjustment, would that cause it to throw the code (the car thinking it's in neutral)?

And if so, would it have anything to do with the high idle?

its possible. another thing that can cause this is thottle cable being to tight.

I took the IAC valve back off and drenched it with carb cleaner. Still didnt have a new gasket so just put it on for the hell of it to see if it would work and drove the car for a few miles and the idle seems fine. Threw a P0443 code but after resetting it it hasn't come back yet.

I heard a sloshing sound coming from the engine bay, do i need to bleed the coolant system after removing that IAC valve? I'm guessing so..
