i wana replace my stock exhaust system on my 99 Legacy L 2.2. headers to muffler. i am going to get the borla headers because is seem that every good subaru has then haha. but the rest of the system im not sure what to get. i heard that stromung is good and i think that they make a system that fits with ease on my car but im not sure. so any help on what brand to get or where to get it would help. thanks.

If there are two pipes going into the engine on each side from below, they are dual. If there is only one on each side, single. The shroud around the two pipes on the stock headers can be confusing at a glace, so make sure you look carefully.

I also believe the Duals have 3 bolts, whereas the Singles have only 2 bolts.

Dual looks like this:

Or Borla: (with a high flow cat attached)

Here's the two side by side:

Single port Borlas look like this:

Hope that helps.

after a few different exhaust systems I ended up with stromung and I couldnt be happier. Even though they are a little more expensive than others they are FAR worth it.

I have Borla headers, Stromung High Flow Cat, and Stromung Catback. Sounds amazing.

Don't buy Borla headers. Buy the borla Knock offs from ebay, they are 150$ cheaper and they use stronger welds that prevent cracking. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Impreza-WRX-2-5L-RS-97-05-99-00-Stainless-Steel-Header_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem180346396616QQitemZ180346396616QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Some ebay knockoffs' either a hit or miss on the fitment. I've order that exact same header in that link and it did not fit. I had to get a muffler shop to lengthen it.

What i've heard that will directly bolt on is SpeedyRacer and A2RINC.

i wanted to do the similar to my car. I have a 01 legacy wagon, and the cat code keeps coming up. So i want to go with a whole new exhaust from headers back. do you know if i can put the equal length headers and resonator in or if i have to go with a high flow cat? my car is a "Cali" car witch i have heard it needs a more restricted cat. do you have any suggestions?

i was lookin at the stromuing hi-flow cat pipes. they got a dual one, single one, and one that elimantes the cat all together. i dont think imma buy the dual cuz i cant afford it lol. but what idk if if i shoudl to the single or no cat. i seen cars both ways what r so pros and cons?

Are you going to be doing cams in the future? Any headwork? Any changes to the compression? No? Then you don't need to change your stock cats if they're working fine. You say you have a limited budget so spend the money on other things, specifically tires and suspension.
