This time its about additives.

I've done some reading, and some people think Acetone is the way to go. Aceton is found in nail polish remover, I believe, and it raises the octane level of your fuel quite a bit. Now "tests" have proven that it increases mileage a significant amount (couple of MPG) but what i was wondering, is if the fuel system of a Subaru would put up with something so strong as Acetone.

What do you think? I'm a skeptic, but I'd still like to know.

it works, but it will eat the shit out of your seals, gaskets, and anything rubber or plastic.

not worth it man.

yeah, that's what I was wondering...

I thought it would probably do that same, but it isn't just straight rubber on the seals and stuff, is it? Its probably treated with something to make it resistant to corrosion...

Heres a bit of a discussion on my local forums about this and many people have tried it.

Acetone makes gasoline more like propane....

that's interesting to me, because there is a guy on LCO who runs propane fuel (100% propane) in his Legacy Turbo, and he gets about 30whp more and 35mpg or so.

sounds sort of like the alcohol injection system xcntrik75 has...

I'm still not going to put it in my tank until I get some longer term results from multiple people though :?
