OK, now I have a for real exhaust leak.

Yesterday I hit a cinder block on the road. Long story, I'm at work on a night shift, put it this way.. I had no where to go and was boxed in with traffic. I tried to high center but it didn't work.

The block crushed my driverside exhaust header right at the engine. Two studs are sheered, one stud is ripped out. My muffler is caved too but that's another story. The cat and mid pipe are fine as well as the rest of the under carriage.

Good news was that I already ordered an N1 muffler a few days ago so that takes care of that.
Tuesday (payday) I am ordering a set of Speedyracer UEL headers to replaced my trashed OEM header.

I'm working night shifts and borrowing my wife's truck. I don't have a lot of time right now to sort through details. I know the new headers will come with bolts instead of studs.

I need to know what the metric bolt size and pitch is for something that would replace the header studs.
I have to go get a helicoil set to fix the mount that was stripped out of the block but I need the information before I go and I have no information on me, nor I have nothing to reference to. Two studs are broken off and one is missing.
So any information you can give me now will help me fix the stripped hole before the headers arrive and I can quickly get my Leggy back on the road.

I never helicoiled anything but I know I need a metric set and the process looks straight forward.
I did my research, Speedyracer headers (borla knockoffs) seem to be the best bet since they are Version III and come from TopSpeed and are the same headers being sold by A2R.
Buying them from the actual Speedyracer website is cheaper than going through eBay.

I was looking for an excuse to upgrade all that but this was not what I was planning.

IIRC its 10mm x 1.25mm. go buy a 10x1.25 helicoil kit. it should come with a few coils, a tap, and the installer tool.
installing isnt bad. you need some stuff that doesnt come in the kit.. the size drill bit that should say on the kit. and some perm. red loctite. so basicly you need to drill the hole with the correct drill bit (drill only out the old thread, dont need to drill further in to the head), tap the hole with the tap in the set. but the helicoil the on the installer tool, put some loctite on the outside of the helicoil threads (dont need much), thread it in to the new taped hole. break of the tab. let the loctite dry for a few minutes and your ready to install the new bolt

Worst part of the helicoil job is making sure you're drilling the hole straight. Drill it at an angle and you're kinda screwed.

Thats what is bugging me about doing the job. The car has to sit on a ramp so that puts the car at an angle already. So I'm a bit worried about having to drill into the block trying to keep it straight when I'm already working at an angle.
I don't know.. I'll figure something out.

That's a really good idea. Good thing those Rhino ramps I have aren't expensive, I can get another set.

When you loctite the helicoil in, use a high temperature loctite. I can't remember if any of the red loctite is for high temperature. Just read the labels and ask questions at the autoparts store.

That's a very good bit of advice. Probably something I wouldn't have considered until it was already happening.

i would also do a pressure check on your cyl head chances are that impact that big could've moved things or two around, thats how my hg failed for the seconnd time only i've got hit in the back where exhaust took most of the impact.
