I need to replace stock cats...

So, I need to replace my stock cats and I was wondering what kind of options I have. Like a front cat delete. I live in WA and I need to keep the cat on for the emission test. Also, where I could get a set up please thanks. I need new 02 Oxygen Sensor too... anyone know where I can find cheaper ones... they are a hell expensive!

Don't take the cat off if you have to pass emissions testing.
I know Magnaflow makes high flow cats for our cars.
Autozone sells OEM plug in O2 sensors for 90 dollars. Don't bother with the cheaper universal splice it yourself version. They'll eventually give you a hard time because of the wire gauge mismatch.

Replace the O2 sensor first, as that may be your cat issue. I got a new OE O2 sensor from 1stsuabru.com for 95.00 a few moths ago. Go OE for the front O2 sensor, the rear can be anything.

On cats, if after you change the sensor you still have issues, anyone BUT Eastern as they seem to have fit issues.

The OP of this thread has emissions testing. I was seriously considering doing the track pipe and O2 spacer for myself because I'm not in an emissions test county in Texas. But our neighboring county is Harris which is Houston. The way it works here in Texas is the major cities do it and then slowly expand to the neighboring counties. It'll just be a matter of time before I'll be forced to test in my county. Which means my plans for the track pipe and spacer will be a waste.

But damn, I really wanted to do that.

Not necessarily a waste. By the time they get to your county you may have:

a) a car too old to E-check
b) moved
c) discovered you can just weld in a hiflow cat into your trackpipe

How old is the car, and is the engine modified?

The Cats may still be under warrenty, if they're still giving issues after fixing the O2 sensor.

98 legacy bg5. I keep getting the trouble code p0420! So I am debating on what I want to replace or try to replace first. Cat...o2 sensor... It is to expensive to get both cats and 2 o2 sensor.

subaru are common for rear o2's throwing p0420. and replacing just the rear o2 fixes the p0420

I have good luck with the Magnaflow hi-flow cats. A customer I have now has a 1990 Nissan 300ZX TT we are doing an extensive build on, but he needs to pass emissions as well. What we did is got a set of Magnaflow 3" cats, and I'm also making a set of test pipes to go with them. This way he can use the cats for emissions testing and then easily swap back to "off-road only" test pipes for the other 364 days of the year.

I'm using Magnaflow 53009 3" stainless cats with V-Bands welded on. I haven't made the test pipes yet but they will basically be a pipe with flanges on each end like the cats.

Once we tune it it should easily pass emissions, and the cats are legal for at least non-california states.
